is it Tinea Versicolor?
So yesterday morning I woke up and was using the bathroom when I noticed a small patch of little white bumps on both my knees. They itch just a little and seem to go away when I apply both tea tree oil and hydrocortizone cream to them. Is this tinea versicolor? Anyone have some experience with this? I have been googling it for the past 2 days to find a good treatment for it and I am going to Target after work to get some Selsun Blue shampoo for it as well as anti fungal cream.

Re: is it Tinea Versicolor?
They go away completely when you apply those things? That doesn't sound like tinea versicolor to me because the white patches develop slowly over time and take a while to go away (like tan lines, they have "tan" again to catch up with the rest of you after the fungus has been killed). hmmmm

Re: is it Tinea Versicolor?
Kind of just sounds like a rash or irritation :S sometimes you just get weird little bumps or things on your skin, but if it went away with treatment, it's probably one of those temporary things. I think tinea versicolor takes a while to build up/become noticeable and then disappear after treatment.

Re: is it Tinea Versicolor?
My experience has been the the Tinea Versicolor is a white spot or patch, not a raised bump of any kind. The Selsun Blue would work with the Tinea Vesicolor but not sure about the itchy bumps on your knees.

Re: is it Tinea Versicolor?
I've never known anyone to have TV below their trunk region.
I'm not saying it cant happen, but in my personal experience Ive only seen it on people from their waist and up. Stomach, back, arms, face, etc. |
