Tanning salon job question

I have previously had an interview at a tanning salon(july this year). And im planning on reapplying there. Is there any key things I should do extra or anything? or should i wait a few more months for them not to remember me? Im planning on writing a cover letter.

thanks

Re: Tanning salon job question

So you got an interview but didnt get the job? Or you got and interview, got the job and turned it down?

If you just didnt get the job obviously they saw something in you to interview you but someone with more experience might have come along. I would say just go for it, no need to wait.

But if you turned down the job... then I would wait till they forgot you! lol

Keep applying, keep buggin them! Its shows you are determined and very interested! The fact is that for every employment position available in this economy there are 6 qualified applicants wanting the same job! I look for a few things during my interviews...
1. Appearance- Get dressed UP! Make an impression! clean and hygenic, how well they dress and present themselves.
2. promptness- show up early!! late for an interview, don't even bother!
3. SMILEY, SMILEY, SMILEY! I can train you for the position, but I can't make you personable!
4. Make sure to include on the application that you are a team player! Usually salons have female employees which can mean lots of gossip and cattyness- AVOID this!
5. DONT ASK IF TANNING IS FREE during your interview! Geez people! It will be! (usually!) When you work at a restaurant do you eat for free? Department store, are clothes free? Its just tacky!
6. Better like to clean! CLEAN and more CLEAN!
Just a few tips:)
Maybe you just didnt stand out enough the first time around...I wouldn't give up, it can't hurt to keep trying!

Agree. I didn't work at a salon but I did work in retail a while ago, and did most of the interviews/hiring because the manager was too lazy.. Definately don't ask about discounts or freebies (it makes it look like that's all you want to work there for!) and definately stress that you are personable, friendly, a team player.. and yes, a clean appearance is super important. Be early too, and if for any crazy reason beyond your control you're gonna be late for the interview (traffic, accident etc etc) CALL them before hand and explain. Don't just show up 20 mins late and expect them to still interview you. Other than that, follow those guidelines and you should be fine.. Good luck this time!!
