second tanning session today. 10 minutes in a Sunstorm bed (their middle bed). used Halo as a lotion and burned. the front of me is red, while my backside in a tiny bit darker than usual, no burning though. skin type 3-4. i didn't burn last time and used it for 9 minutes...

so what should i do? tan for less time? like 6 minutes?

**also-- it's an HP bed and according to the owner less than 2% uvb... so why would i burn? [ This Message was edited by: condemnation on 2004-03-18 20:48 ]

That is weird. I burned at 12 in the normal bed. Are you sure it's a burn and not just a heat rash?

I think you need to drop you time down to about 6 or 7. You started a little to high on the time. Also, be sure not to tan everyday. Good luck!

do they have stronger lamps in the canopy...or more lamps in the canopy. Wait till the red/pink goes away...moisturize like crazy and back down on your time when you go back and stay at that time for 2-3 times before making a jump.

what's the difference? lol. here's the thing: the redness is on the lower part of my stomach, hips, and the front of my thighs. everywhere else on my front i am fine. no burning on lower legs, chest, arms. i tanned around 4pm and its 9pm now, so if it were a heat rash, wouldn't it be gone by now?

It's interesting, see as Halo supposedly has some sort of sunscreen it in. Hope you're feeling better by morning.

Def. drop down. And don't up your time until you don't turn pink at all. It's weird that only one minute made such a difference, but it's always better to be safe then sorry.

I can't imagine you burning going 10 minutes in a true high pressure bed.Especially using Halo. When was the last time you tanned & did you use a hp bed then?
I can't imagine a true hp bed being their middle bed. What's their highest upgrad bed?

DO NOT tan again until all pink/redness has gone away. when you do, drop your time down by a few minutes..

does the bed have only the square purple or blue lamps? cuz if it does, i dont know why you are burning, and if it doesnt, then it is not a true hp bed

thanks, everyone for your replies. i really appreciate it. the redness is now very minimal and i have no discomfort, so i am assuming to burns will heal quickly. to answer questions, dancetan4ever-- i've never really paid attention to the lights, i think they have blue lamps.... summerstan-- the last time i tanned was in may and i used their best bed, no burning whatsoever. apparently, their best bed at the salon i am at now is the SunGate.

the beds they have are the sungate, sunstorm, suncapsule, sunsector and a mystic.

if i used a better bed-- the sungate, would that lessen the chance of burning? i just really don't want to be burning in the future, he bed i use is 20$ a session and if i am just burning, i'm wasting my money. as soon as i'm healed, i plan on using if for 6 minutes and slowly work my way up. also, if i do 6 minutes and don't burn, would it be okay to go twice a week then?

I am not familiar with the Sunstorm bed. Does it have lamps in canopy and base? Is it tube lamps or quarts (square) lamps? More info would help me to determine if you tanned in a true HP bed.
