just curious.. how come some posts have to wait for mod approval before showing up but others don't? like if i post in 2 threads a few mins apart, one may need approval but the other doesn't. wondering how that works or if there's a time limit for how long you have to be a member and then that stops, or what the deal is with that. thanks!

This is part of our spam prevention system. The algorithm used results in the number of your posts that get sent to the moderation queue for approval being inversely proportional to the number of total posts that you make. In other words the more you post and the more of your posts that get approved, the less that will get diverted for approval in the future. Realistically, this occurs at around 100 posts for most users, so once you hit that number, you should notice a sharp dropoff in the number of your posts that require moderation. Exceptions are posts that are very long, include hyperlinks or contain images.

Oh cool. I was wondering why none of my posts ever need to be approved anymore. When I first joined they were always having to be approved but not anymore.

well this answer my question somewhat.

how long does it take to get your posted apporved though?

I've posted a couple over the last couple days and they keep saying needing to be approved, but they have yet to show up. I don't think anything I've posted should be a problem for them not to be approved.

I'm mostly just asking questions that I would like answers to since I'm a newbie tanner.

I approved the posts....

The mods have to approve posts of new members - this helps prevent advertising and spamming of the site.

Sometimes we do not get to review a post for a half day depending on the mods (volunteers) schedules.

After you have made a number of posts and been a member for a while, approval is no longer needed.
