Any opinions on the new york diet plan?
I was just wanting some opinions from the health and fitness gurus on here about what they think or any suggestions on other fitness plans. the reason im asking is im pregnant and due in early march and was looking for plans to 1) help lose weight in a relatively short but reasonable amount of time after I recover and 2) regain some of the muscle tone and athletic ability I've lost during pregnancy.
Plus I'm kinda starting to regret indulging some of the sugar cravings I've had while pregnant. On the upside, all the weight ive gained is apparently in the healthy range and only in my stomach and chest. ![]() |

I wouldn't worry about it to much till after you have the baby .. you'll never no how much your body will change or if it will or if your baby weight will fly off or be a sucker and stay on.... You wont be allowed to exercise right away so you'll have to maintain some what of a healthy diet so you don't pack on extra pounds easily and keep taking your pre natal vitamins I didnt and i regret it my body was seriously whacked after i was lacking so many vitamins and my doctor is still trying to get everything straight im anaemic now im lacking so much iron it make's me feel ill some times! I've never tried that diet tho but i find most diets suck! I would talk to your doctor everyone's different on what diet you should be on and etc exspecially after being pregnant and maybe your breastfeeding too..

I don't know anything about that diet. Will you be breastfeeding? If so, it isn't wise to start dieting.

Re: Any opinions on the new york diet plan?
I'm not breast feeding especially with the sleep meds I'm on. But due to my back problems, this weight needs to come off quickly. Just one of those things where I want to be able to lift my own child without any pain as well as being in shape. I've also looked into beachbody, weight watchers, and a few others. I don't think my slight frame is meant to carry excess amounts of weight without problems. Prior to pregnancy I was 5'5" 115 with an athletic build, now I'm 135. I had and ultrasound at 31 weeks and they estimated the baby's weight to be 4lbs he is going to be huge
. The scary part of preganacy for me any way other than large child small me, is the fact that the abdominal muscles split, and those are meant to support your back. not good for someone with back problems. |

Re: Any opinions on the new york diet plan?
I had a baby almost 10 weeks ago. She weighed 6 lbs and half an ounce. I was not allowed to diet or workout for 6 weeks. The hospital gave me a list of exercises to start after the 6 week mark and said to not add anything else to it (diet or exercise) for 6-8 additional weeks. I only gained 12 lbs the whole pregnancy and have lost over 30 (but I do breastfeed so that helps with the weight). You will lose a lot in labor between the baby, placenta, and fluids. You will continue to lose fluids for several days. Instead of cutting out food groups like that diet suggests, I would just eat healthy meals and begin working on toning your body after you are cleared by your OB. Your body goes thru a lot of stress by having the baby and cutting out several types of food will not help you out. You may lose weight that way, but it won't make you any healthier anytime soon and you most likely won't be able to keep it off. Normally, if you gained an amount of weight that is considered to be in the "healthy zone", losing the weight isn't the issue, its getting toned that takes the time and that requires exercise

Re: Any opinions on the new york diet plan?
They didn't give me a c-section with my first. Unfortunately I live in a small town so you know the technology for the hospital isn't completely up to date. If it's too complicated they send your butt to a hospital that's an hour away. I miss civilization lol. I wasn't planning on starting on any diet or exercise program until at least 8-10 weeks after i give birth barring any complications of course. I'm just one who likes to get my homework done ahead of time so to speak. Unfortunately there are days where i get the feeling the doctors here aren't as knowledgeable as those from my home town which is the one with hospital that's an hour away. My first has severe eczema and they couldn't diagnose it so they sent us to a doctor in omaha, and he got it with one appointment. Not to mention the fiasco they had with me when I gave birth to my first, I gave them my medication allergy list and told them none of these or anything in the same family as, and I'm guessing they didn't listen or don't know what they're doing, because they almost sent me into anaphylactic shock. But not much you can do when your options are limited.

Re: Any opinions on the new york diet plan?
Oh wow, sorry to hear that.. That's so crazy we have 2 hospitals here a french one and a english one.. There both bilingual but I find the french has more technology then the other one and better service big time and less wait even .. The two hospitals are only 10 minutes driving apart too so its not bad! .. I don't no what I'd do in your situation! I'd be paranoid specially after the first exprience you had! Good luck tho!
