Yeah, it does take some trial and error. However, after you figure out the shape of your eye and what works and what doesn't, it looks AWESOME. I hope it worked out well for you, and glad I could help you find what you were looking for!

Ooh, what is it? I find that stuff tempting, but the side effects freak me out. There's gotta be something not good about a product that changes your eye color...

Pssh, same here. I can't do a smoky eye.. or ****, even ANYthing other than my normal, plain, natural-colored eyeshadows.

Re: Halloween makeup help!

Your makeup turned out great! It's funny that it looks like my everyday makeup. :) I love to do a smokey eye.

Since I didn't get to this thread until after the fact, I didn't get to say....the NYX jumbo eye pencils are great for darker bases (like the black) if you blend them out really well with a brush. They are generally 3 dollars.

Another thing I often do with smokey eyes is apply primer, line my eyes with a black blendable pencil like UD 24/7 in Zero (black) and then blend it upwards away from the top lash line (and downwards and out on the lower lash line), then apply my shadows, then line my waterline with black, put on mascara and done!

Re: Halloween makeup help!

Haha! I missed your post with the pictures! It looks really good! You did an awesome job with the shading, and that's the hardest part! I found that when I started doing makeup, I was scared to go too dark becase I didn't want it to look a mess, but now I'm like, "LOAD THAT SH*T ON!" Hahaha!

And I'm with Zoe about the NYX jumbo eye pencils. I have one in Strawberry Milk and it's an AWESOME base. A lot less expensive than MAC.

I order it from this site (it is overseas- the bill to my CC was Riga, Latvia- this at first made me nervous but now I am thrilled I tried it!):

www.alldaychemist.com
Search for Latisse or Careprost (which is the active ingredient). It is IDENTICAL to Latisse for 1/3 the cost (only because they charge a pretty penny for shipping). I just ordered two more bottles since I'm getting great results with no side effects (and I have light colored eyes, believe me I was concerned, but no side effects so far!)

Check the MUA reviews for Latisse- lots of women on here arguing for the alldaychemist version instead of the branded and extremely pricey Latisse:

I really wish I could pull it off every day... but it took me forever! I have about 6 minutes tops in the mornings to put on eye makeup for work- lol.

It is funny because I was super worried about it being too dark- and it wasn't at all! Each step of the way I was like, this looks weird... but then all the blending paid off in the end!

Awesome, thanks. And teehee about alldaychemist. I order some other stuff from them that I can't get here.

eta: and I'm definitely about to get a few bottles. Especially since I'd like to try it on my brows, too.

I'm kicking myself now because I forgot to take a before pic... it's already been 4-5 weeks and they are longer and thicker for sure. I can't wait to see what happens in the next month or two. Oh, and I NEVER expected this part, but they have more natural curl too! I find I barely have to use my eyelash curler anymore. LOVE IT! I will post a pic soon and show y'all what it looks like. Granted, my lashes were super short and sparse to begin with so the fact you can even see my lashes in pics now is amazing in and of itself- lol.

Oh, and I also use it on my brows and it works great there as well. My lower lashes are growing too for some reason- I think it is because I apply it at night and it transfers a bit from the upper to the lower lashes.

I really highly recommend you girls give it a try!
