Re: Can redheads tan?
A normal base bed will be fine. You need to start off very low time wise though. I'd say about 2-3 minutes every other day for a week. After that bump it up 2 minutes. Any tanning lotion will be fine as long as it's not heavy in DHA (Bronzers) or you might turn orange since you're so fair skinned.

Re: Can redheads tan?
Red heads CAN tan!
I have liiight blonde hair, green eyes, and 'red head' type freckled skin *ALLL over my arms lol* I don't tan as much as 'glow' lol You prrrooobably won't look like Snooki ever but it is possible to get a deeper shade! I would start using a base bed 3-4 minutes.. do that 2-3 times then up the time by a minute or two and repeat the process. Don't go back tanning if you burn! Trying using an accelerator instead of a bronzer first. What's your price range? What scents do you prefer? What brands does your salon carry? ALSO after you've gone 2-3 weeks and have bumped up to 15ish minutes try moving to a medium pressure bed (usually they are 12-15 mins) and start on those at 9-10 mins max the first few times. It took me like 2 months to get a base tan.. my advice is to go slow with your time! Rushing leads to burning and burning leads to damage and setbacks

Re: Can redheads tan?
Thats probably why iv had no luck, just burning then id wait two days before i could tan again. I started out my time at six minutes, big mistake lol but i got over the burn stage after going for a few sesions. Im now going in a level one bed for four minutes, it is much better i dont burn now. When should i use other level beds?

Re: Can redheads tan?
My wife is a red head, and she's a power tanner.
![]() It just took her a little longer to build a base, but now that she has one, she can do the max time in any of the beds. She mostly uses accelerators and occasionally a natural bronzer. You do not want to burn. That isn't good for your skin and it just sets you back.

4 minutes is good if you aren't burning! I tan every day which isn't recommended... so I would personally tan 4 mins for 2 days straight.. then 5 minutes for three days.. 6 minutes for 4 days.. and keep moving up like that. You can replace 'days' with sessions and bump up your tan time every 3-4 sessions but bump it down if you burn and wait the burn out before tanning again! I would use the OTHER level beds (15, 12, 10) minute beds when you're at least doing 15 minutes in the level 1. And when you do the other levels bump your time down by 3-5 minutes because the bulbs are stronger! So if you're doing 15 min a level 1 (20 min max) you would do 10 min in a level 2(15 min max bed) etc etc that's just how I do it

Re: Can redheads tan?
I'm naturally strawberry blond and very fair skinned. It takes me about 2 months to build a base tan. Sometimes I go every day and sometimes I skip a day or two (based on my work schedule and how my skin feels). If you feel even the slightest bit of discomfort, skip a day. Under no circumstances do I ever increase my tanning time by more than a minute at a time. Two minutes can make a huge difference to people who are extremely pale. As far as lotions go, there are so many out there to chose from. Start with an accelerator. It will be frustrating at first because you won't feel like you are seeing any results, but give it time. The girls at multiple salons I have been to have tried to get me to start out with bronzers to start building color right away, but if you have no base color you will just look like an oompa loompa. Good luck!!!
