If I need treatments or a facelift when I'm older, so be it, but I'm just wondering what I can do *now* at age 20 to help prevent damage for the next 10 years or so. (On a side note, I'm a careful tanner and have never had a single sun burn in my entire life). Do you think it's possible to take great care of your face while still tanning it?

I don't want to stop tanning my face because that's the whole reason I tan in the first place.. it's entirely cleared up my skin as far as oil/acne/uneveness etc and I feel (personally) that tanning is a more "natural" solution to the problems I had than slathering on chemicals and acne creams. (I've always avoided strong face washes and most stuff designed to combat acne)

Basically right now I use alot of Aloette products (aloe based and don't contain as many synthetic ingredients as other lines).. I use their eye cream to keep the thin skin around my eyes moisturized, and as a day/night cream I use either the Aloette Vitamin C cream, or a generic brand Vitamin E cream which both work wonders and make me glow. I do a light peel with Aloette Enzyme Exfoliant (basically just fruit acid in a gel form) once a week to get rid of dead skin etc. The rest of the time, I heap on either pure aloe vera, or the Vit C or E creams so my face is always super hydrated.

At my age, do you think this is enough to keep my face in good shape while still tanning? for me it is the itchy kind of tingle (i do tend to be uber tingle-sensitive), and the redness lasted about 45 minutes after i got out of the bed. usually with roar or smolder i don't feel the tingle until i get out of the bed, but this one started about 5 minutes in. after tan scent is very very light and no longer smelled flowery, just clean and kind of soapy. it does appear to have cosmetic bronzer in it, for i lost some of the 'instant color' after a shower, but the next day i had a noticably darker tan which is unusual for me (mostly because i never feel i'm dark enough!)

my husband used it today. he is more immune to tingles and the more heat the better. he looooooved it.

i like designer skin lotions, and i do appreciate the 13.5oz size

Basically, my tanning bed is not going to happen :frown: the electrical upgrades required to even plug it in would be more than the bed itself... plus the issue of not enough space for it.. so I decided to look into tanning canopies for the time being.

I know they have less bulbs (I'm only looking at minimum 10bulb models) and they take way longer to tan, but at the moment it takes me about an hour and 40 minutes total just to get to the tanning salon, tan for 25 mins, and then come home... so the extra time required to tan without leaving my house doesn't really bother me. I'd rather spend that hour relaxing/tanning than on the road.

My question is, do they work as well as base beds if you have the time to sit under them? I'm Irish so I'm not super black, but I like to maintain a dark base tan year round. Plus I'm thinking if I'm the only one using it, then the bulbs would probably do their job and last a long time?

It's really hard to find info on these anywhere, except from sites that are selling them!
