But lately I have been tanning outdoors more than I have been in the bed.. I thought I would get darker laying out in the sun. But I feel I'm not getting anything.. actually I think my legs are lighter..
I seem to always lay out for 2 hours or more at a time.. sometimes even 4 hours!

Not long ago I burnt so I had to take some time off until I healed.. but as soon as all redness was gone, I got back out there using a spf 4 on top of my Rio Body Butter..
I think I might need to use a different oil? Perhaps I'm darker than I think?
Who knows.. I just know I am frustrated and heading back to the beds more frequently..

Going to lay out today for as long as I can stand it or until the storms blow in..

I was so excited to get this one after reading the awesome reviews..

Going on the skin it felt nice, had a light pinkish tan color and smelled fab!
I definitely smell the almonds in it (a cherry type smell)

Immediately out of the bed I was very impressed.. I was swinging my legs out and thought WOW! My legs look so tan!
Legs being the hardest to tan area on many people, including myself, I was excited!

Got home, waited a few hours before showering and was again impressed .. the color went from a red golden brown to just golden brown..
No ATO out of the bed or hours later.
The smell on my skin is more of the vanilla coconut and very light..

I love this lotion!
Oh.. the only complaint I do have is that my face was broken out the next morning.. I normally do not get breakouts so I was upset by this. I would buy it again, but I wouldn't apply it to my face again.

Smell: Light tart apple scent when applying, no ATO afterwards.

Application: a small amount seems to go a long way. Absorbs quickly


After tan feel: while warm, right out of the bed it seemed oily, but as I cooled down and before I left the salon that went away and now my skin feels very soft and just a nice clean feeling.. My skin has a sheen to it, looks very healthy, but yet not oily.


After Tan color: My skin seemed more flushed after this session but after a few hours that has faded and I am BROWN! Not a HUGE difference, but I can see it.. Yeah! I have a horrible time with red undertones to my tan.. especially on my chest and neck but it's not as bright, it's more brown..
Wow.. I love this oil..
I'm going to use it for other than tanning as well. My skin feels great, yet not a heavy oily feel! I think it would be great after showering.

I have been tanning for about 4-5 weeks now this year and am darker than I have been in years.

My goal is to have a nice golden tan in as few visits as possible.

When I was teen, some 20 years ago, I would only tan for Prom, homecoming, etc. I was very active, went to school, had a job, etc.
Since I was active outside quite a bit, I didn't pay for indoor tanning since I did get some sun outdoors.

I started using indoor tanning beds last April after obtaining a job that required a lot of my time and natural sunlight! I LOVE my job and wouldn't change a thing..

I tanned most of the spring and summer 2009, but really didn't know what I was doing even though I had found this site.. I was more in the learning process.. there is a lot to learn to tan correctly/properly. It's just not about going in and laying in the bed. Which is what I did as a teen.. I rarely used a lotion back in those days..
So anyhow..
I found this site and it helped me out a lot with explaining the different lotion types, types of beds, etc. I was new to the site and was learning while tanning last year.

This past fall/ winter I took a break and made sure I really nourished my skin with intensive lotions and creams. To replenish my skin from anything lost from tanning those several months, as well as repairing dry winter skin. I think this really helped me out this year.

In January I started my "tan plan"!
I read more about lotions, picked out those I would love to try. Had me a sheet of Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 lotions to get, etc..How many minutes to go for this amount of visits.
I started tanning the 1st week of March 2010 and started off with:
Synergy Brown Envy
Protan Incredibly Black
CT Dark Thrill

I always start off slowly..
(3) 6 minute sessions
(3) 8 minute sessions
(4) 10 minute sessions
(3) 12 minute sessions
(4) 15 minute sessions
(3) 17 minute sessions
and finally top off at the 20 minutes

Starting out, I go 3-4 times a week and moisturize with an intense moisturizer.
I have never burned going this slowly, unless they put me in a bed with new bulbs when I'm just starting out, which did happen this season. In that case I allow 3 days of non-tanning and use a aloe vera based lotion those days.

Once I get to 20 minutes, I start throwing in HP bed sessions here and there and start rotating other lotions.

I have found I love tingles, but am sticking to the light ones until they do nothing for me. I never use tingles back to back, or anything with a lot of bronzer back to back. I don't mind light bronzers, but I am in the market to add another bronzer free lotion and also an oil to the rotation.

I am now at 20 minutes in the bed and am going 2-3 days a week. I get in a HP bed 2x a month.

Now that warmer weather has arrived I will start outdoor tanning when I can. Usually on the weekends when I'm off work.
I will start off with 1 hour and if for some reason I am going to be out in the sun for longer periods of time, I will layer products. Using a SPF 30 with a nice tanning oil. This will be my first year doing this, and I feel I need to read up more about layering products, time in the sun etc.

At the moment I am moisturizing with Avons Intensive Cream and creams from Bath & Body works. Once I use these up I will be switching to something specifically made for after tanning to help prolong my tan. Probably something with Tyrosine in it..

I'm by no means very dark! I am darker than I personally have been in many years.. I burn very easily, so in past years, that is about all I would do, burn and peel, with very little color as a result.
For the short time I have been tanning (4-5 weeks) vs. the color I have now.. I am amazed and I don't feel I would have gotten this dark so quickly without the help from this site and experienced tanners on here!
