Hi folks,

I'm new to tanning, and could use a little insight.

Perhaps this is something my mind invented, but I sometimes run into people who have a certain kind of 'look' to their tanning bed tan. And I want it! It's super even, glowy, and BROWN....not orange or red at all.

Below are some examples-

Do you think those tans are achieved by using solely a base bed, without any spray tan or bronzing products too? A certain kind of bed or anything?
Could this color only be achieved with HP beds over many months, or is it likely that with my southern Italian heritage, I could achieve something similar in a month or so? I'm pretty pale to begin with.

I really am concerned of having an orange or red unnatural-looking, splotchy, uneven tan. I've met some people who frightened me off indoor tanning because they looked off-colored and scary. I wonder what it is they do so I can avoid it. Maybe they're doubling up with spray-tans....or could accelerators/bronzers do that to me?

From what you all see at tanning salons, is it very difficult or rare to achieve this kind of color? Is this girl just an exception? Do be honest if it's unrealistic.

that's pretty much exactly the color i am. i naturally have a olive skin tone... [hispanic & indian] but i'm not naturally dark. or pale.
i usually only use base beds. i'll use an hp bed about once a month though, just to get a deeper color. but i have neverrr gotten a spray tan.
anyways, i definitely don't think it's unrealistic to want to achieve this color. with enough knowledge and determination i think it's possible for you. just make sure you start off using a good accelerator. the orangy color you've been seeing is from people either getting spray tans in the wrong shade, or using a bronzer before you have a good base tan.

You're not going to get that dark with just accelerators or bronzers honey.

Anyone I've ever seen that shade of brown using the **** out of some Tingles are Bronzers.

I'm pale as can be naturally, but thats the color I am. I recommend using beds with a higher UVB ratio to stimulate melanin production. I don't really think the brand of lotion really changes anything for me. I use an accelerator called Supre Prism. Just remember when tanning with higher UVB output beds, start out very slow. Your tan will take longer to achieve, but you will get much darker imho than using vho beds.

Could just be the photo but she looks orangey to me :S I reckon she uses spray tan aswel as the sunbeds..

Lotions make a big difference to me (ones without bronzers) some give me a yellowy undertone to my tan :( but others will give the nice brown colour! Build up a gd base tan n then start rotating ur accelerators with mild tingles (at first!) They reallly boost ur colour

You CAN get that dark with just base beds and without bronzers. Last year I got pretty dark and NEVER used a bronzer and only used base beds because that was all my salon had. But you do get a deeper, darker tan with upgrades and tingles. At my darkest (and I was REALLY dark!) I was using only tingles and accelerators (no bronzers!) and after I had my base tan... I was mostly using upgraded beds such as level 2's and 3's. Unfortunately my current tanning salon doesn't have these...only base beds so I haven't been able to achieve that darkness again.

That color isnt that rare. Her face looks darker than the rest of her, which means she probably has makeup on. or a heavy bronzer she uses on her face. I think with your italian heritage you would be able to get to that color. Just give it time.. If you can tan outside, do that. I think as for achieving a certain tone, i think it all depends on your natural skin color..

she's gorgeous. i think she spray tans though. (nothing wrong with that, i just personally wouldn't spray tan).
