How many hours before you should change the lamps in a hp bed? I've been using the Matrix and I've noticed that a few lamps (more than one and not at the same time) have burn out. I've been going to the same place for the last 5 yrs but I don't know how often they change their lamps.

I'm not sure how often, but sometimes bulbs burn out before their hours are up, due to defectiveness or freak surges or whatever it may be. If there's not burnt out every time you go in it, more so every so often, I'd not worry about it, but if it's an almost always thing you should ask them!

About how often should they be changing the bulbs? Should they be changed altogether - or as they burn out?

To me *im no expert - far, far from it*, I'm thinking since there have been a few burn out (top & bottom) they are ready to be replaced. I know the bed gets alot of use, especially during the warmer months.

HP lamps should be changed at about 400 hours.

I would be so ****** if I wasted $30++ on a Matrix session and they let the bulbs burn out. Heck, I'm ****** when a bulb is out in a base bed. If it's a regular thing I would definitely say something because HP sessions are not cheap so they shouldn't be cheap about their equipment.

Well said. That is why I changed salons a few years ago. I got tired of paying a lot of $$ to tan in beds with weak or burned out bulbs.

The salon I go to now is cheaper with beds that are sooo much better.

Yeah, thats my feeling on it too.... It's only $20 a matrix session here, but still thats wasted if the bulbs are ready to be replaced. I haven't tanned since Sept. or Oct. of 08 and I was ready to start again but I'm going to see if they have replaced them yet. I have went to the same salon for the last 5 yrs but if they haven't replaced them I'm going to have to start looking for a new salon that carries the matrix or any total hp bed. I live in Oklahoma and there is ALOT people just don't know what a hp bed is. I've called many salons and had to explain to them what a hp bed looks like lamp wise....

Anybody on here from Oklahoma that knows of a salon with hp beds? My current tanning salon is only 35 minutes away and I'm afraid I will have to wind up driving over an hour one way if I want to tan....
