so i want to try out a bed with more uva but im not sure if im ready or how many minutes i should go. (i need a convertion chart or somthing) right now im on my third visit on a,
15 minute elixer
with 35 VLR 100 wattlamps
and 3 500 watt facials.
i did 8 minutes today with no burn and very little color increase. the next bed up is a,
12 minute soltron
with 43 soltron turbo 160 watt lamps
and 3 500 watt facials with shark technology.
(i only sortof know what all that means)
anyhow the girl there said the soltron had "bronzing" bulbs which i took to mean UVA. i want a color boost, should i just keep uping my minutes in the base bed or try some in the soltron, and for how long. as far as skin type i belive im a 2b.

in my opinion i would keep using the base bed and upping your minutes. it's not really rec. to go ahead and use upgrades while building your base.

You can use either of those units when building your base tan. You do not need to use a lower pressure (100w) bed while building your base. You just need to be smart and careful in converting your session times, like you are doing right now by inquiring about it.
OK, so your last session was 8 minutes you said. How many minutes did you go for the session before that? I usually recommend sticking at the same time for 2 sessions in a row before increasing the length of exposure. When you increase, I suggest doing it in 1-2 minute intervals. Just fyi.
My answer to your question depends on the time you spent in the bed for your last TWO sessions, not just the most recent one.
If you went 8 minutes for your last two sessions, I would say you would be safe to go 7 minutes in the Soltron. If you onyl went 8 minutes for your last session but the one prior to that you went less than 8 minutes, I might suggest that you go 6 minutes in the Soltron. More bulbs, higher wattage, more power in the Soltron.
I would not go more than 7 minutes in the Soltron right now. See how you do at 7. Make sure you inquire as to the last time they relamped in both of these units. If they very recently relamped the Soltron you might want to do 6 just to be safe.
Just my opinion. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

I would use the base bed a little longer maybe increase your tan time.

thanks for the advice guys! i'll probably just stick to the base for a bit longer, when i get my minutes higher i might try a session in the soltron.
