I stumbled across a different skin type questionaire online. I like this one better than the other two we've had on here. If for no other reason than it gets the "freckles" question correct. It gives zero points for "many" freckles and gives more points for the fewer freckles you have. As opposed to the antithetical stance of the other two questionaires on this topic. The point values and the category rankings are a bit different also. There is no "A" and "B" classifications listed. Although you can figure them out on your own just by dividing the ranges in half.

I do agree this one is better in regards to the freckle question which never made any sense to me. I still come out a skin type 4 with a score of 58.

Well I hate this one because I lose out by being a blonde in the earlier questions and only get a 40! I still think I'm a 4!

That's me too... I'm a type 2, but if I protect myself from burning and get out in the natural sun now and then along with indoor tanning, I can get a pretty dark tan.

I have Dark Skinned European ( 1/2 Italian & French) and Light Skinned European ( 1/2 German) in my background, I wonder if that has anything to do with it...

VTJ, if you can post the link to where the questionairre is derived from, we can add it to the skin type questionairre list thread.

Hmmm...this one puts me as a 2, while every other one I've taken puts me as a 3. So far, I've been tanning as a 3 without burning...so I'm sticking with that.

OK ... I am a skin type 3 ... so now what do we do with what we have learned? At my salon there has been no talk of skin types and so on. Just wondering how this is suppose to help us out.

Knowing your skin type can be helpful as your exposure times and schedule can be tailored to your individual skin type to achieve a tan and prevent overexposure. Your skin type can also help to determine your tanning ability.

It puts me to a 3 (with 36 points), mainly because of my hair & eye color. Tina, my sister in law, scores 40, because of her dark brown hair and brown eyes, but I actually tan much easier then her. ;)

Thats what I find most bizarre, I have a friend who is skin type 4 but doesnt tan as easy and burns quicker. I think it should only be used as a very rough guide. I know a natural blonde woman who tans darker than me.

I think color of hair and eyes only has to do with your tanning abilities to some extent- I mean, a blue eyed blonde will not tan as easily, but what about Aboriginal Australians who have light hair and yet have dark skin? Or someone like Tyra Banks, with light eyes and an African-American heritage? It says I'm a type 4.

you should have mediterranean for the first one! I don't know if that helps or hinders!
