I'm perfectly happy with the salon I tan at, they are wonderful! However, I have been itching to try this new salon in my area because I heard they had really good beds. So....last night I went.

First, the the girl working (about my age or a little younger) was helping me. The Owner was standing within ear shot but wasn't chatting with me. She was telling me about their packages, which I personally found to be a bit different. They sell "Units" and each bed takes up a certain amount of units. :Curved: I personally don't really like that way of buying tans, but whatever. I was just going to try them out (once) and I told her I just wanted to go once. She persisted and then told me about a package where I can try every bed in the salon one time for a flat fee. $29.99 so I went ahead and purchased it. I kind of regretted it after the fact since I have a year of unlimited tanning with free upgrades and HP at another salon, but whatever.

They only carried AG and SB. I asked how much the bottle of chocolate silk was (haven't tried it yet) and she told me, and then went on about how it had bronzers in it, etc. I didn't want to sound like a know-it-all, but I did eventually say it didn't. Anyway, then before she took me back to the bed, she asked to see my goggles (they don't provide them for free) and I show her my sunsets and the girl had seriously never seen them before and hesitated about even letting me tan.

Oh, and they have the Velocity 918 HP bed and she was giving inaccurate information about that. I gave her the benefit of the doubt since she might have been new and not trained really well, but I just found it weird that the salon OWNER was standing there the whole time listening and didn't even say anything. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive or critical or something...I dunnno.

Anyway, so last night I tanned in the Sunscape 755 and liked it. Didn't like it as much as the Ergoline beds I am used to tanning it, but it was a good change and always nice to try something new! I noticed it got hotter in there than what I'm used to, I don't think the cooling system is as advanced or something.

In a few days I'll go back and try the Velocity. It looks cool. I've only ever tried one HP, the Sun Italia Magic and love it. We'll see how this one compares. :D

The other beds I will also be trying there are: the Sunscape 756 stand up, and the sun star 322 for base beds, as well as the Sunless Express spray booth. I'm interested in trying this. I love Mystic but haven't tried anything else yet. The cool thing that I saw about this spray tan booth is that it sprays water continuously over your feet so they don't get oversprayed or blotchy! That seems neat.

Anyway, I definitely won't be switching salons but it's always fun to try new beds and experience something new. :)

Sounds like they have cool beds, but I would be totally turned off by the employee. Even if the owner wasn't listening, she was giving you FALSE information and it's good that you knew that Chocolate Silk was just an accelerator and that your Sunsets were good to use for indoor tanning!

I would have just told her that she was wrong, because not everyone knows as much about tanning as you do and she might tell the wrong information to a new tanner and that would not be good. Maybe you could call the salon and let them know that you were given inaccurate information, but don't tell them her name. And say you are not being rude, you just don't want others to be misinformed.

Oh yeah, and she told me that they are the only salon within a 100 mile radius that has an HP unit. I was like, huh????? The salon I tan at is 4 miles away and has an HP (and all their other branches all have HPs and are within a 30 mile radius). It really irritated me but I didnt' correct her. Maybe I should have....=/

Sadly, there are alot of salon owners that think that a unit with HP facials is an HP unit. I often shop my area an areas that I travel to and see how well these salons are trained.

yep, calling isnt good enough i'm finding out very fast! if you want to see if a salon has an ACTUAL high pressure bed, you have to go and look at the bed!
