I always clean the bed myself (I tan at my gym just to save $ right now), but the stuff in the bottle they supply us with is almost greasy and is a light yellow color. I am one of those that believes in Clorox and Lysol type stuff to really kill germs....is this true for tanning beds too? Would I be totally crazy if I took my own cleaning fluid? I know I should be careful not to harm the bed with anything, but I don't know who has been in the beds and how sanitary they are! Any tips? Thanks!

I wouldn't bring your own "cleaner" for the beds as some of the ingredients may be harmful to the acrylics and Clorox being one of them. I would ask the staff what type of bed cleaner they are using on the beds to ascertain to better ascertain that it is in face an approved/effective bed cleaner.

There are special solutions for cleaning tanning beds that won't harm the acrylics, the most commonly used one is Lucasol. I would ask them what type of solution they have and just make sure and wipe the bed down well before you use it and you'll be fine. You don't want to use anything that could harm the acrylics so I wouldn't bring in your own solution.

ditto! i think lucasol is one of the most popular cleaners tanning salons use..it is highly concentrated and kills germs and viruses...it has to be mixed properly to be affective

Do you think the ppl at the gym would laugh at me if I asked them what that stuff is? I don't want them to think I am second guessing them....

I don't think that they would say anything. If they look at you weird just say your a bit of a clean freak or you have sensitve skin and want to make sure that you won't have a reaction to the cleaner.

I would ask the staff. I work at a tanning salon and we clean the beds but there is always a bottle of cleaner in every room if the customer wants to clean the bed.
We use Cal Care Acrylisafe. If anyone asked me about our cleaner i would tell them what it does and what is in it. We have some customers that are allergic to the cal care acrylisafe, so we have a different cleaner for them, and we usually put a note on the account letting everyone who waits on them that they are allergic reaction to the cal care.

I think you have a right to know what is being used. No harm in asking
