Well a few weeks ago I tried out this new salon...Everything seemed awesome they had some sweet sundash/ergoline beds...I walk in, I get registered, and I go to my room...Well I get undressed, then I realized I NEED GOGGLES...So I got dressed, walked to the front desk, and asked for some eyewear..They said "we dont supply eyewear, if you want some you must pay $5.00"...Needless to say, I turned them into the state board of cosmetology lol..I looked it up, and they must supply some form of eye protection for free..

Well, if they're supposed to be providing eye protection free of charge, reporting them was the right thing to do.

Thats how I felt too, I even checked right on the Ohio State Board Website...They clearly stated that was the rule.

That would annoy me if my salon didn't supply eyewear. I've forgotten mine a couple times, so it's nice that they do.
Reporting then was the right thing to do. You should go back in a month to see if they actually supply eyewear after you reported them.

Our state law does not require salons provide "free" eyewear. IMO it's better to own your own pair...I look at it this way, it's kinda like my toothbrush...I wouldn't share it with anyone. Eyewear is cheap compared to contracting an infection such as pink eye.

It is very cheap, but if you accidently forget it, it's nice to have a free pair to use.

I know a franchised salon that makes you sign a paper that you provide your own eyewear for health reasons.

At the salon I work at we have eyewear that you can buy, and we also have some just in case you forgot them. I definitely agree it's much better to have your own pair, but just in case, we don't want anyone tanning without eyewear.

On the state board website it said they must, here is the link ... http://www.cos.ohio.gov/who-we-are/cosmetology-board-statutes-and-rules/TANR6-04.pdf ... Rule 18 "These rules mean the facility
shall have free eyewear for customers use, which does not exclude the facility from offering eyewear for sale."

If I'm not mistaken, Ohio also requires tanning salons to sanitize both the eye protection they provide and also customer-owned eye protection.

One of the salon I go to sanitize the goggles but the other one dont, so I have my own that I keep in my car.

I think that all salons should sell/provide eyewear, and customers MUST wear it.

I also feel that way, they should have little sensors, so the bed wont start without sensing its on your face lol, im stuck in the future!

It's CA state law that everyone has to wear eyewear, but we don't provide them for sanitary reasons. We sell them though of course =)
