If its nice and sunny, not a cloud in the sky.. but a bit chilly, what do you think is the lowest the UV index can be that u can still get a tan with? do u think 5 would be too low?

I don't think the temperature has anything to do with it, if it's sunny, you'll get UV, as long as it's midday (sun is lower in the sky this time of year). I'd say use sunscreen if you're planning to be out a long time. You can still get burned!

Well, i know that the stronger the UV index is, the stronger the sun is. If the UV index is only like 1, i doubt anything will happen lol. im just wondering if even 5 is too low

You could give it a try if you have the time. What have you got to lose? If it does do something, hey, free tan! And if not, you wont have to wonder anymore!

Okay, well, it is true, the higher the UV index the higher the risk of burning, but you described a sunny cloudless day and the UV index would sort of have to be fairly high. A 5 I think would be a moderately cloudy day.

Nah, it wasnt cloudy at all, but it was a bit cold (well cold for us, lol) and i guess because it didnt feel as hot, that means the sun isnt so strong, i checked the weather channel and weather.com and its only been a 5, yet its been very sunny.. so i dunno lol

What area do you live in? If it's only 65 here in FL people get burnt all the time. I hate to burn.

No matter what you can be at a beach and the wind can be blowing and there will be clouds everywhere you can still get burned. It could be 90, it could be 65 if you're in the sun you can burn or tan.

It depends upon alot of things, if you live in the northern part of the country and you try tanning on a cloudless day in the winter you won't get very good results, the sun is farther away from you then in the southern states. The uv index will be much higher the further south you are, the temperature does not have alot of effect on it at all.
