I read somewhere that it's better for your metabolism to eat something every two hours. 8 a.m. breakfast 10 a.m. snack 12 p.m. lunch 2 p.m. snack 4 p.m. snack 6 p.m. dinner. Nothing after six.
Any comments? Sounds good to me I love to eat

Yes this is true, but you also have to be active, nto sitting around, and it has to be healthy snacks, not junk food

Yep, Mini meals are a good thing, but like Josh said, it needs to be healthy. I did great dropping about 20 a couple years ago doing this with the slim fast plan and also just eating healthy, regular foods, and also drinking plenty of water. This with a good 30 min workout or so 3 - 4x a week is a great way to drop a few pounds.... and with the help of my best friend, I've gotten myself a workout room setup and I'm back on track for losing some exta Lbs myself

eating like that stokes the fat burning furnace in your body and keeps it running more efficiently.

I only eat 3 meals a day. I tried the 3 with the snacking in between, but it made me want to eat more.

hmmm...I tried to get my husband to join a health club with me, but he didn't seem interested. He's all obsessed with losing weight, but isn't doing anything about it, except not eating as much junk.
I just do some crunches with weights as far as working out. I heard somewhere that more than 24 is in excess, because it doesn't do anything. I liked hearing that I used to do close to a hundred...now I'm down to 24

Well...it's been a long time since I was in that business, but when I taught fitness classes back in the 80's, we always instructed people to change their fitness routines up...approx. every 6 weeks so it didn't become unproductive. (In school, we were told that doing the same routine for longer than the 6 weeks would drastically cut it's productiveness...so we told the clients to cycle their routines.)
Bonnie or someone else who's professionally into fitness now would know better than I do, tho.

I never eat anything past six... It's one of the best things you can do for yourself, you sleep better, you feel better... I heard that you should not eat anything at least three hours before bed, because when you feel that "gnawing" in your stomach, it's supposedly your body eating the fat, which in turn, causes you to lose weight

I def do not eat THAT many meals in a day. Plus im never really awake at 10am or noon to eat HA. I think everyones body is different and I dont go by any of those rules for dieting I make my own. I eat every night before bed and sometimes its taco bell and im still keeping the weight off and in really darn good shape.

I know the snack every two hours thing is kind of the ideal, but I've found that eating reasonably sized meals works OK. I do exercise in the morning before breakfast, and I'm active all day, so I subsist on a lot of yogourt, fruit, granola, salad, pita, etc. for breakfast and lunch. I'll eat a reasonable dinner(like with meat, fish and rice, but I've never liked potatoes that much; I prefer rice or coucous). One reason I'm sort of dubious about the Atkins diet is that it doesn't work as well for someone who does a lot of cardio. You need carbs to burn (at least I do).

BOnnie: I don't see how the Atkins approach would benefit you that much either. You are a fat burning machine already with all those muscles. I always wanted to do the body building thing, but I don't even know where to start, and then I'm afraid I'll get all frustrated and quit.

Don't go near it; I've messed up my health enough because of excessive body stuff in my teens. I eat the way I do because I like it and because I'm bulimic and therefore avoid certain foods (for example I avoided the thread on binge snacks or whatever it was). Just stay fit and eat well and all will be good! Oh, and the funny Buddhas; life is joy! The Buddha was enlightened, and the silly images simply reflect a joy of living!

I heard the same thing!! I was VERY happy to hear that! I am much more likely to go do 24 if I think it will do some good!
