New tanners, please be sure any meds you are on are not photosensitive.Always check if you are put on anything new, also.

Yes, always check . My med is photosensitive, but I don't have any recations with it. My brother, on the other hand, who is on the same exact med+dosage will BLISTER if he even attempts to go out in the sun!

An individual can be photosensitive one time & not the next, too, though. It isn't consistant.I know that doesn't sound right but it is straight from a Smart Tan course.

Good Call Summer This is very important if you're a tanner. Definitely check your meds or call your doctor if you're not sure

You can also call any pharmacist.I would imagine you can check online, too.A knowledgable salon should know,as well.

Some medications are on the list due to diuretic properties. I'm on a blood pressure medication. When I started tanning, I had to do some research. I discovered that the specific version of the med I'm on does not have a diuretic like another version does. I suppose the lesson, besides checking your meds, is to pay attention to hydration if you tan.

In Louisiana we cannot give specific recommendations whether to tan or not when someone is on any med. the state considers it medical advice, and we're not licensed to do that. When someone is on med. we always have them check with a dr. or pharmacist first. We are a Smart Tan salon and know the contraindication of meds. but cannot give specific advice.
