these have got to be like the best inventions ever.... which ones do you like?

my favorites are JA Platinum Zero and Melon Frappe. I really feel the cooling action of these which is important. Microburst by Tahitian Wind also has a strong cooling sensation.

losers IMO:
BiPolar--no noticeable cooling at all
Cold Rush--barely any cooling and nasty scent

don't the cooling lotions contain alcohol and that dries out your skin?

I would like to know this too as I love the cooling effects, but if I am doing more harm than good......

oh I forgot to add Pure Ice by American Tan to the loser list. It is a good lotion in itself but I wouldn't buy it for the "cooling" action as it is barely noticeable.

star, I don't remember if they contain alcohol. I'll check the label when I get home.

i want to say that the arctic fever doesn't contain menthol that dries out the skin. that is a cooling tingle (tingle factor 5) i get amazing results from it. i LOVE that lotion

okay I'm sorry for the delay on this.... been busy trying to get a car the past few days.

I checked the labels for Melon Frappe, Citron Sorbet, and Pure Ice and they ALL are cooling lotions and ALL list alcohol in the beginning of their ingredients list... while my browning lotions do not.

Thanks for the info. My skin is too dry already and the last thing I need is worse alligator skin!

Pure Ice is made by American Tan. SubZero is made by Most... I think.... or maybe PowerTan? not sure on that one.

Okay, tried Sub Zero today. Liked it a lot! Cools pretty well! I was impressed. LOL The after tan odor was strange. Not gross, but different. Not strong, luckily. Definitely a great cooling lotion.

I've heard good things about SubZero but I've never tried it. Does it really smell like mint chocolate chip ice cream?

warm weather is coming..... try a sample of a cooling lotion and see how nice it feels.

Aloha Olu is another barely-there cooling lotion. I use it as a moisturizer instead....

Sub Zero is a nice lotion. Light bronzer, but I didn't feel any cooling with it.

have you bought your cooling lotion for summer tanning yet?

JA's platinum zero is awsome. I get great color, skin feels great and boy does it ever cool. Sometimes I can feel thecooling effect for an hour after I am done....which is great when it is 109 out, like it was today!!

I have the platinum zero t4, a borrowed bottle of melon frappe, and a small bottle of something from biddescomee.. i forget the name

Platinum Zero works great. Keeps you cool long after the bed!

If the salon has platinum zero, I may give it a try today. It's so hot and humid outside, I'm having to force myself just to leave the house to go tan.

Frosted Hemp is an excellent choice for cooling lotions as a starter. However for a High octance type cooling try JA Subzero platinum!! Super cool sensation. Stay away from COLD RUSH by Hoss Sauce, it is ultra greasy, and stinks, and when you clean the tanning bed afterwards, usually you have to clean it 3-4 times before the junk comes off

the only cooling lotion I've tried was Arctic Fever and I didn't feel cool while using it but the tingle was def. there

Is Sub Zero a cosmetic or DHA bronzer? I've looked everywhere for this info. I adore Melon Frappe, tingle factor 2. Might need to look at a stronger one. I just adore this lotion and it definitely doesn't dry my skin out.

njchica

AnnaBanana, if you like JA cooling lotions you might want to try Platinum Zero T4... it is a strong tingle but it is a "cool" one, you won't feel like you're on fire.

Thanks Chica, I definitely think it will be next on my list. I do love that cooling sensation. I know it sure is hot and muggy these days and the cooling lotions are just the ticket.

I tried my sample packette of DS Bi-Polar yesterday. It was a disappointment... barely any cooling sensation at all but i did like the light bronzers. I checked out the ingredients and it looks like anything that would give a cooling sensation wasn't listed until 7th or 8th on the ingredient list (water & aloe vera were first). however, it did smell nice! i can't wait to try melon frappe!

I got some samples at an SAE seminar I went to that was held by the local lotion distributor. The bottles won't be out until after Nashville.

Cooling lotions never work on me. I've tried double dipped, Plat zero, and melon frappe and I don't feel the cool.

Most of them don't work for me,either.Or I barely feel it.I won't be using them much more til warmer weather, though.I have 1 coolant sample left,I think.Hoss Cool Moon.I haven't tanned in over a week, either.Just not in the mood.

I can feel a little cooling with JA's Plat 0, Sub-Zero (YES, it smells like chocolate chip mint), and Frosted Hemp.
By the way, not all alcohols are drying. Cetyl Alcohol and Stearyl Alcohol are moisturizing. I'm not a chemist so I cannot tell you why but I have read this in countless magazine articles.
