Well if you go about it the right way it is, you just need to make sure you take some supplements or get all of the vitamins you need, like Iron is a big one, and try to eat lots of soy and tofu so you get protein too. But it is so healthy for you because there is like no fat in a lot of the food and very low chloresterol

Luca I make a lot of vegetarian dinners. Try Fantastic foods chili! You add your own bean and tomatoes and it's really yummy.

I also like to make vege burritor and queasidillas. You can add rice, refried beans, salsa, cheese & top with sour cream mixed with guacamolie!

Not really if there isnt a source of protein. But as long as you get some protein supplements it should be alright.[ This Message was edited by: MusTAnG86Tx on 2003-12-29 13:05 ]

yeah like if you eat a lot of soy and tofu, and beans and stuff, you will be fine, it has a lot of protein in it.

I live on Asian and Middle Eastern food too, and although I'm not technically a vegetarian, I eat very little meat.

Have you lost any weight from becoming a vegetarian?

LucaBella

I have lost a bit, not a ton, but I don't have much to loose, lol. I feel much healthier, I have noticed a good weight loss on my tummy too!

One point of being vegetarian is that it is supposto be healthier. Now that most meat is pumped full of steroids, antibiotics and hormones. Its just that teens who starve themselves use the vegetarian excuse and we get a bad rap. If you eat right you should never need to take a supplement. Soy products (in particular- TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) which is basically ground dehydrated soybeans) have more protein than an average steak. Meat is not the only source of protein. The main nutrients most vegetarians lack are the Omega Fatty Acids (Commonly found in fish) which cam also be found in flaxseed and as a supplement. But there are so many other reason that people become vegetarian. I believe humans werent meant to eat meat. If you compare our teeth to the rest of the animal kingdom we have more in common with plant-eaters. The only 'sharp' teeth we have are the 4 canines- the rest are all flat for chewing plants not ripping flesh. Also, without guns, humans are not a 'killing machine' like most animals near the top of the food chain!

hormones.....maybe that would explain things of late.....
boo's 2004 resolution-eat more meat, increase hormones!

no offense to vegetarians! i admire ppl who live what they believe.

LOL. Well, maybe they can have an organic section and a menopausal section as well! No really-the antibiotics in meat can cause resistance to bacteria and viruses which cause new, tougher strains to develop, and then normal antibiotics quit working. They have a big medical word for it I cant remember right now.

Oh and they hormones they give cattle are to gain weight. SO maybe that lady who sued McDonalds for making her children fat should really be suing a buncha farmers! LOL

haha true! lol
yeah now days a lot of meat has a lot of crap put into it, one of the reasons I don't eat it, my main reason is the way animals are treated b 4 they die tho, I dunno, just my opinion.

Yes, that's the reason I don't eat meat or chicken, because it's fed with human growth hormones that actually make you gain weight too. I use morning star veggie patties, they are very good! Sometimes I buy smocked turkey breast from the Whole Foods store, they have a vegetarian grown meats, chicken and turkey, no additives, no hormones. But it's very pricey

yeah that is the one thing I hate, the veggie stuff ends up being a bit expensive, but oh well! lol I do it anyway. I have noticed I lost weight way easier since I became a vegetarian too, I do believe that it helps keep the pounds on.
