Hi everyone. I've been reading the posts on this site and I've gotten a lot of useful info! I'm still a little new to tanning and problem I have is that I'm kind of on a limited budget (poor college student!) but I still want to have a good looking tan. Which lotions are the best value? Which lotions get the job done, but don't cost an arm and a leg? I'd say anything over $40 is out of my price range. I might be willing to spend $50 if the lotion is REALLY good. So, what do you guys recommend? If anybody knows of a good place to buy from, that would also be great. Thanks for all the info!

You can get a lot of niice lotions for under $40 .. Ambrosia from CalTan is pretty good. People on here like Emerald Bay lotions but personally..they dont do it for me

hhmmm.... well, I know there are several lines of lotion that are reasonabley priced.... Emerald Bay, Synergy, Norvell, Sun shooters, some Australian Gold, and probably some California Tan stuff, maybe go check your salon for what they offer. Also Green Tea and Black Tea *DHA* are really well priced I believe.

I would go with Fiji Blends...

You can definatly get a great lotion on a budget. Synergy Tan makes Brown Envy. Its a basic lotion non bronzer non tingle. But this stuff is wonderful It has a warm vanilla scent and is very moisturizing.
Another would be Green Tea, Or Black Tea. Both very inexpensive and great for the skin.
Emerald Bay, and some Australian Gold lotions are low priced.
Another option is Swedish Beauty's Swedish Help Creme. Awesome lotion lower end price.
what lotions are available to you?

I'd say SB Hemp Creme as well.

Ditto. All the lotions/lotion brands she suggested are great if you're a tanner on a budget.

Well since im really cheap when it comes to lotions I got a good list of lotions haha. My favs are Black Tea and Green Tea and there around $10. Frosted Hemp is awesome its around $10 too. Im really hooked on Cafe Bronzer and Hempz Hydroponic Bronzer and I got them for around $15 each. Beach Bum Rum is good and cheap too and so is Sun Tea.

Emerald Bay has some nice chaep ones
Dark N Dazed, Dark Kickin Ale, Mojo.
Swedish Beauty's Swedish Hemp Creme is about 20-26$, but is kind of boring to me.
All of the ones mentioned above are great.

Theres lots of good lotions! I don't think I've ever spent over 50 on one lotion.

Try Black tea or Brown Envy! Both are under $20!

I think the DS lotions are good for the amount of lotion you get. Yeah, the prices aren't the cheapest, but you get more lotion per $.

All the lotions mentioned are good choices, you can see what your salon has to offer in samples and try a few and decide which you like best before ordering

That swedish beauty lotion you mentioned is great I'm sure, but when you get to higher levels of tanning and lotion.. SB can get really expensive That would stink if you LOVED the lower level lotion and when you wanna continue with SB it's too expensive. It's happened to me when I was sampling*Is that spelled right?*

i don't really think you have to get more expensive lotions as you get darker; i think we're all just junkies searching for our next fix on our journey to the ever elusive holy grail!

hempz hydroponic bronzer is not 15 dollars. my salon doesnt sell it but i am guessing it's around 35 or 40 dollars.

Some good cheap acclerators are CalTan Rage, SB Swedish Hemp Creme, EB Dark N' Dazed, AG Velocity. All which should be under $25. A good low priced tingle is EB Mojo, or Dark Kickin' Ale which has a bronzer.

Anya1976
01-03-2004, 03:38 PM
EB's dark n dazed is a good product for around 20 dollars without a tingle

thrust is a great lotion for 30 bucks. AG's gelee with hemp is pretty good for 15 dollars.

Out of all the suggestions, I would definitely go with Brown Envy. You can't go wrong with that one. As long as you like vanilla scents you will love it. Green Tea is also supposed to be really nice. I still have to try that one.

I got my son Australian Gold HOT! for 26 bucks at the salon. I "borrow" it from him...it's that good!

Sounds like plenty of good suggestions here, maybe another to check out would be the Supre Cocoa beach selection....

LavenderFleur
01-04-2004, 07:36 AM
That is a good idea too Tpsy. The Cocoa Beach lotions are pretty good too. There are plenty of reasonably priced lotions out there. And you can get just as dark using those as with the higher end lotions.

Yep, I actually just added them to the Lotion Rating section, and after looking them over, I'm thinking of getting some for myself

I live in Austin, Texas
Is there a retail outlet in this town where I could buy any of those "less than $20" good lotions(with mild tingle too), by Emerald Bay, Cocoa Beach and CalTan, etc., Please?

It all depends on where you go for these. I got mine for LESS than one third of that amount. There are some great deals, you just need to look for them. You can get some top of the line $50 lotions for cheap. Your $40 budget will go far.

I got my brown envy cheap, and I'm from the UK. I amazed how cheap it is for a lotion of that quality. I hope they continue making it.
