I'm a diet coke addict, would prefer to drink dc than anything! For a while I was drinking a gallon of water a day, but reverted back to my old ways...
But since I've started tanning, and my skin feels dry sometimes, I am wondering if water would help with this? Any thoughts?

You should always drink a gallon of water everyday. It's what your body needs. Pop is so bad for you.

I am never without a bottle of water. I freeze it at night then carry it with me all day.It definitly has a good effect on my skin. What u might want to do is alternate dc then water,,that way u can have your fix too!

I go through water like crazy at work (about 6-8 20oz. bottles a day). Of course then there's the frequent trips to the 'little girl's room' but I can really tell a diff in my skin and my body when I don't drink enough water.

I second that; I go through the day with a bottle of water in my hand constantly.

There are SO many positive beni's from drinking water...not JUST for your outer skin appearance and condition but for SO much withIN your body.....I am an absolute militant when it comes to drinking water!! The only thing aside from water I drink are my supplemental pre and post workout shakes and green tea.

from Chris the Skin Care Expert:
H2O
Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.?
Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatigue.
Even mild dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3%.
In almost 40% of Americans the thirst mechanism is so weak it is mistaken for hunger.
Kidneys can not function properly with out water. Increase in water decreases fat deposits.
YOUR SKIN NEEDS HYDRATION…………cell activity and for flushing out toxins.
Insufficient water intake guarantees premature aging.
Are you drinking 8-10 8 oz. of water a day?
If the answer is no than you are probably dehydrated.
Now go water yourself!

Yes Mom!
If you tell me that my metabolism will increase at all, from drinking water, I'm on my way to the water bottle right now!

Once you start drinking water you will get more used to downing it. And you will probably start craving it like crazy. I don't know if I could carry a gallon around with me all day. I usually just do 4 refills of my sipper bottle and that's enough for me.
It seems like with all the talk about not putting mineral oil on your skin because it keeps OUT water, the easiest way to combat this (and for long term health) is to drink as much water as you can. Although I've heard you can run the risk of depleting minerals if you drink too much water, but I think that is really hard to do.
Also my doctor has told me that tea, soda, diet drinks do not act the same way in our body. Water instantly gets absorbed, but the other drinks need to be processed just like other foods. Some water each day seems essential.

I used to drink 4 50 oz. bottles at work everyday. I have slacked off but I need to get my butt in gear. I can tell when I haven't been drinking enough water. I feel slow
Water cures all!!! well, almost all, and it's sooooooooooooo great for your skin. I dont drink enough of it though, and my bf is always after me for it... i'm a diet PEPSI girl myself =)

I drink water like crazy, sometimes a gallon or more a day. ANd, yes it is great for your skin and your overall health period. My skin is very clear and glowy from all the water I drink. My hair is also has more shine and strength to it.
I do not understand how people can hate water, when our bodies are 70% water to begin with. May as well keep giving it what it needs and wants. Water is the elment of life.

I've started drinking water. I keep a bottle of it with me now, instead of a diet coke. Well, that's not true. I actually usually leave the house with a bottle of water and a diet coke. But I am drinking the water too.

All I drink is water and orange juice. Once and awhile I will have coffee but I have cut down to like 2 times a week now. And no sugary juices or soda for me. I have noticed alot of good changes in me since.

I drink so much pop it's not even funny. I go through at LEAST a 12 pack a day. I'm not even exaggerating... the addiction is that bad.

My New years resolution was actually to start drinking water! I have kidney problems since I was young, and I've been so stubborn all these years by not drinking any water. Well I woke up one day and just decided to drink water! i think it helps a lot.

I refill my water bottles on the days I go to class. I drink wayyyyy to much soda, and then I get sick of it, and go back to water. In the summer, I usually just drink water and orange juice.

Did you know that the aspertame that is in the diet sodas,(I have about 1 a day myself), is probably one of the worst chemicals you can put in your body. It has been proven to cause headaches, nausea, even seizures. NOt long ago, we had a patient at our hospital that was having severe headaches. CT scan showed a brain tumor. She had it removed and guess what the tumor was made of....YOu guessed it, aspertame! I am sincerely trying to get that garbage out of my diet all together. Also, for those of you who only drink cola drinks, diet or regular, it deletes phosphorous from your bones which in turn pulls calcium out. Doesn't probably mean too much for the very young ones, but if you are in your 30's, 40's or beyond, you are already losing calcium on a daily basis, and anything you can do to prevent further damage will help. Sorry, I'm a nurse, and I care about people's health. Bottom line is, nothing, not even juice or water obtained from fruit replaces the real thing, WATER!
