Hiya! I went to the salon today and realized I was on my last little bit of my John Abate Tingle Free lotion so I asked the lady at the counter for some help picking out a new one. There was a rack of lotions going on sale that she showed me and suggested Rock Star with tingle sensation. She suggested I put a tiny bit on my arm to test it because it would make my skin red so I did and it did. I wasn't bothered by the tingling sensation but I'm not sure if I'm at the right "level" to use a tingle lotion. Any suggestions on what lotion I should buy? I have regular skin and have a base tan..Thanks!! -B

Depending on the level of tingle, it will last up two 2 hours (but lighten up after the first 1/2 hour or so) Tingles are usually vitamin b based and increase micro-circulation and oxygenation in the skin. This will help you achieve a deeper color in a shorter time frame

What was the last tingle you used? how often did you use it?

Yes, Designer Skin makes Rock Star.
Bella my favorite tingle that is not to strong is Melon Frappe by JA. It's a great lotion and the tingle is on the low side!

I've used Satori Sol's Beyond, Glo, and Kashmir. Didn't notice any tingles.

Pyro is great if you are immune to tingles. I was pale like snow, and I had just started out tanning when I wanted to try a tingle. The salon owner warned me, but I told him that that kind of stuff probably wouldn't bother me. I used his strongest one (from his line of lotions) and it didn't bother me at all. Right now I've used Pyro and I LOVE IT! It's level 15 so if you're immune to tingles this is your best bet!

I'm thinking Melon Frappe by JA or Ginger Spice by CT. Both are good beginner tingles.

I really liked Siren, but didn't feel much of a tingle. And Pyro was really kind of on the easy side for me, I don't think I feel tingles, especially not while in the beds. (Cafe Bronzer Hot I didn't feel a thing, but I got some of the best color I've gotten thus far.)

my first tingle was Mojo by EB, I used it for like a year, b/c I was scared to try different lotions (and had no idea how many different ones are out there) and my friend said this one worked best for her. Well now that I'm addicted to this site I cant get enough of trying lotions!

I love Goddess, but it might be too hot for you. It's not a recommended beginner tingle.

What levels are the medium tingles? I tried spiked butter and I didn't find much tingling sensation and I think it was a 5.

Another great beginner tingle is JA Solarium Formula A.

I think Melon Frappe by JA is the perfect beginner tingle, plus, it smells really good even after you tan, unlike a lot of tingles.

i'm totally confused by tingle lotions. my best friend who tans all the time said something like it brings your blood to the skin and it tans you better and that jus sounds scary! i've used mega voltage and i think it has a lil tingle, maybe, and i got pretty dark (for me) but i never had any type of reaction or anything. are their certain skin tones that don't do well with tingles? or should you have a base tan first? i'm tryin to pay attention, and yet not gettin it at all

Generally, tingles are used to break plateaus and you should have a base tan before using them.
Tingles contain ingredients like Niacin and other B vitamins that increase microcirculation, which causes the blood on the surface of the skin to move faster, which speeds up oxidation, giving you a darker tan quicker. It's best to alternate tingles with non-tingles to prevent yourself from becoming immune to tingles.
If you've never used a tingle before, I would suggest you start out with a mild tingle such as: John Abate's Melon Frappe, Caltan's Ginger Spice, or Emerald Bay's Dark Kickin' Ale to name a few. PLEASE DO NOT use tingles on your face! Your facial skin is much too delicate and it can cause the capillaries to rupture resulting in Rosacea. It's also recommended you don't shower or exercise for a few hours after using a tingle lotion, because it may cause the tingle to reactivate.
