the other day when i went into my salon for my normal tanning session, there was a new employee working by herself. She took me to one of the beds and told me she was gonna set it for 5 extra minutes so it could warm up while i was getting ready. Is this necessary? Has anyone ever heard of this? None of the other employees have ever done this, so I'm a little confused...thanx!

I warm up my beds for tanners if no one has been in them yet. It's winter time and the beds are cold first thing in the morning.

I've never heard of this before. Crazy how do they warm up? Are the lights actually on?

Yes, I set the beds for 3 to 5 min. and put the lids down and turn it on, then I reset the beds for the time the person needs.

My salon does this for me if the beds are cold. It's really nice, especially when it cold out and the beds haven't been used in a while, this way I can climb into a nice warm bed.

Almost every salon I've tanned at over the years has done this in the winter months. It's a very nice gesture.

I used to go to a salon and I was the first customer of the day I worked night shift and I would go at like 7 am he would always have my bed heated for me.and It was wonderful

I have never preheated my bed for 5 min. Sometimes if its really cold in there or if I notice im the first one to use it for the day I turn it on and wait a minute or less to jump in.

This time of year and throughout the winter, we preheat the beds for our early customers. It gets pretty cold in Wisconsin.

Letting your bed warm up before you get in is EXCELLENT.. I've always done that, and its alot warmer and seems like it always puts out extra. You guys that own these salons and do that for your customers. You are wonderful, because I've went to alot of salons that wanted to charge you for the x-tra time. Warmer is better!!!

Crazy you're the best, I wish the salons around here would think about customer satisfaction.

My customers are very important to me, Anything they need, I just want to be there for them, I joke around sometimes and tell them the only thing I'm missing is the alcohol. I love owning a salon and the people are so awesome. So anything I can do for them, I will.

Crazy, I can tell from your posts that you are a very caring person. It is obvious that your customers are more than numbers on a balance sheet. We need more owners like you. LOL

I supposed if it gets cold enough around here, that would be really nice. Today I got on a 650 that had been used several times in a row with no break between (except to clean)-thought I was in an oven.

I preheat my bed before I get in. It gets COLD here and I just about went into shock the first time I tanned in that cold bed. LOL!

We have pretty mild weather out here in California and I actually prefer the bed cold.

I went tanning tonight and they put me in a bed that must have been used recently. It was warm but not hot. By the time my session was up, the bed was very very warm because it started warm.

I usually go in the morning to tan and alot of the time the bed I use hasnt been used yet beacuse thier are more then one at my salon. I got in one the other day and it was so cold. I couldnt wait to press the botton to turn the bed on to warm myself up. I think next time I will ask them to pre-heat it for me. I dont think they would mind. Ive been going there for awhile now. Good idea!

This would be great to do during the Winter months as the beds are frigid early in the morning!!

I always do this in the winter. The acrylics get sooooo cold if no one has been in them first.

my salon doesn't warm the beds up, most of the time they are semi warm but sometimes they are so cold!

The salon that my friend goes to does this. She usually goes first thing in the morning. I have no clue if any of the ones I go to do this. I always tan at night.

the only reason to let the beds warm up first would be for your comfort , no one wants to lye on a cold bed unless its hot out...

But if you're in the room and the bed is warming up while you are getting ready, do you have goggles on to protect your eyes? I put my goggles on last thing. I don't think I could undress and do my lotion with goggles on.

Well I thought that I might shed some light on this subject for all of you tanners. You are all losing out! Fact is- lamps put out more UV when they are cold then when they are hot-TRUTH. You actually will get more from your beds when you are the first to use them. When you tan later in a busy day after the lamps have been running all day and are hot, they emit less UV output then when they are cold. I understand not being in a cold bed, but what do you want? Hot bed or Hot Tan?

I found out that cold bulbs perform better, so I think I would end up getting in for the warm up period ...I am just like that, I want all I can get and not lose a second..
