Would like to hear from owners on the subject of Owner/Operator versus Absentee Owner.
How much experience should a person have to be a manager of a salon?

If you are going to be an absentee owner you have got to figure out a way to have control over the operation without being there. If you just figure the person running the place for you is honest you are a fool.

When looking over the books for a prospective salon to buy, what are the most important things to look for?

There are endless lists of what to look for. Start out by verifying what the real volume is. If the owner says they really make tons more money but pocket it run. If they lie to the IRS they will lie to you. The IRS can put them in jail.
