All of this talking about diet and excersise is really making me think about getting a head start on my dieting.
Now, I'm pretty busy, I don't like to take alot of time preparing Breakfast, lunch or snacks, and dinner's taken care of nightly. So, do yall have some Healthy, Store bought, quick and easy ideas for me? I'd like something I can grab and go... and I'm really wanting to drop some weight, but want to do it right. I'm going to check into Curves this week (Kudos Jay), or setting up a home excersise routine for myself, since I do have several nifty workout pieces already at my house, so any help in this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Yall

Well i'm not a pro, i'm sure others could help you out better.
I've heard Curves has gotten people good results. I know you mentioned you want "permanent" results, but my mom and dad go off and on with the Low/No Carb Diet. Its basically where you can't eat anything with carbs (pasta, fries, hamburger BUNS not hamburgers though, potatoes, pretzels, cola, blah blah). It really works and you see the pounds come off fast. With this diet i think you should reward yourself, like weekly, or every 2 weeks, etc, by having your favorite food, no matter how many carbs it has, just to reward your self. you still have to be discipline though!

good luck tpsy, i know you can do it .

I'm completely lazy when it comes to cooking... I'm glad my boyfriend does it all, but he's not home every night so I've tried to make the grocery store work for me. I buy a lot of the pre-sliced/pre-packaged fruits and veggies to eat as snacks/breakfast. My breakfasts normally consist of a nutrigrain bar, glass of juice/milk. Cuz, I can't wake up early enough to make breakfast before class. Then I throw a bunch of cut up veggies in ziplocks and go. I eat a lot of salads for lunch. Again, I make it easy. I buy bag salad, I'm addicted to the baby spinach (so good for you and yummy), and add pre cut mushrooms, carrots, etc. I live for the glad ware to put my salads in. And then I try to eat healthy for dinner. I pick up a lot of roasted chickens, sushi, or I attack the fish department. I don't know if any of my ideas will help, but I thought I'd throw 'em out there for ya.

You're so welcome, happy to help. My other idea is a great snack/lunch idea. I got this recipe from Weight Watchers.

You take a pita (I use the higher calorie flatbreads, shame on me) and rub like a teaspoon of olive oil on it. You top it with veggies (I use spinach, artichokes, and mushrooms) but you could also top it with tomatoes, olives, etc. Then use a little bit of shredded cheese to cover and put it under the broiler for a few minutes/til the cheese melts. Instant easy pizza! And not very high in calories/fat. One of my favs.

I always keep pita and cans of spinach and artichokes around just in case I can't make it to the store. Plus it's so versatile you can adjust it for even the pickiest of eaters.

Yea, I like to keep it simple too, I usually have special-K for breakfast and I usually have lettuce (salad in the bag) with either cottage cheese or veggies, or I'll grab a no-fat yougurt for lunch and or dinner- I just pretty much have been watching the fat and calories and in between when I get hungry I have fruit or non-fat sherbert. I just make sure I have enough low calorie/no fat foods around.

Nah, I haven't gone back into town yet, but i'll be tanning on Friday, so I think I'm gonna check it out then. I almost hate to go to curves, when I've got a Bike, weights, and an Ab swing at my house, I just don't have the gumption sometimes to use them. I figure if I enroll in Curves, I HAVE to go, ya know

I know it's sounds boring...but truly one of my favorite snacks is celery with cream cheese. I like to whip the cream cheese with "fines herbes" or dill. Makes it taste sooo good!

Sometimes I put natural(sugar-free) PB on the celery instead of cream cheese.

But my fridge is ALWAYS stocked with a big cup full of celery stalks. If you stand up the trimmed stalks in a big, fat cup with a little water in the bottom, then set the whole cupful in the fridge, the stalks will stay fresh and crisp for a long time, and all you have to do is reach in and grab one!
