I have basically no tanning experience except for 3 mystic tans. I would like to start tanning in beds.
I called a local salon to get some information. The have an unlimited first month of 19.95 with discounted upgrades to better beds if I want to test the other beds.
They carry ONLY cal tan lotions which range from 30 to 70 dollars.
They carry eyewear consisiting of:
disposable eyewear .50
and
permanent eyewear for 3.50
I know people have commented differently on cal tan products but is there a paticular cal tan lotion good for newbies? I have fair skin, blue eyes, brown hair. If so, do you think I should by the lotion there or elsewhere?
Do yall think the eyewear is okay? Is $3.50 sound like what you all pay for eyewear?
Do you all wear the eye wear that rests on your eyes or with the strap? If you wear the kind the rest on your eyes, how does it stay on when you flip?
You all are awesome, thanks for your help in advance.

that's how much my eyewear was, and its with the strap. if you keep the strap on them, they will stay when you flip. I'm not too familiar with CalTan products, so I can't really tell you what a good lotion to use is. You could ask your salon, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help with the lotion.

My salon is a CalTan only salon as well. When I first started going there I bought their products. I started out with CuO2 and Ganja. They both got the job done, but not my all time favorites. After I discovered this site I started buying my lotions online because I've found lotions that work better for me than CalTan, at much lower price. However, the girls at my salon say that Climax is a good starter lotion, but it's kinda pricey. Whether to buy at your salon or online is really a choice you have to make for yourself.

The prices sound good to me. The eye wear prices sound about average to me too. If you buy a pair of goggles the strap will keep them on while you flip. I would move the strap around every few minutes to keep from getting tan lines though. For disposable eye wear, I would recommend viewkeepers or winkease. They stay on pretty good in the stand-ups and when you have to flip, and the raccoon eyes you get from them is very minimal, if at all. For lotions, there is a lot of Caltan stuff that I like. Accomplice is a good lotion to start out with for developing a base tan, although I know it's being discontinued but your salon may still have it. I would stay away from tingle lotions until you have a base tan. If your salon sells sample packets of lotions, buy those first. This way you can try them out and see what kind of results you get, so, if you don't like the lotion, you won't have wasted all that money.
The prices sound about the same as my salon. I haven't tried any cal-tan products except for total immersion which is a moisturizer.
For .50 you can probably try winkease which is what I use. They are disposable and work really well!

Most important about the eyewear is not the price so much, but that they fit properly. Test some of the salon-provided ones out and go from there. As far as lotions go, I would start out with something like Ambrosia since it's your "basic" tanning lotion. But maybe try out a few samples as well. See what you like.

I agree with the others on price. Sounds about average. I would also agree to try some samples. You probably wouldn't want to go with a "tingle" or "hot" lotion until you get some color. Just out of curiosity...do you know what kind of equipment they use?

I have found it really hard to get the elastic adjusted properly on my eyewear.I bought them for use in the High Pressure bed since I have to turn over.I use sunglobes in the regular beds.Since I couldn't ever get the stupid elastic right,I just use winkease in the HP.Don't know much about Cal Tan beginning lotions. We charge $3.99 + tax for eyewear & 50 cents for winkease.
