Some of you have the luxury of a husband/wife or a gf/bf to put the lotion on for you but what about the rest of you? How do you put the lotion on when you are by yourself?

I've seen those on a couple websites... they're basically like a long handled back scrubber only smooth so you can put lotion on it. Do they work well? Is it like a sponge or a pad?

Mine is like a pad and it doesn't rub the lotion in well but it's better than nothing..

If the lotion isn't even on your back could that cause an uneven tan?
Maybe I could talk one of the salon girls into putting some on me

I've never lotioned my back and it's the darkest part of me. I get what I can and that's it. I don't understand it, but I'm not complaining.

I try to reach onto my back as best as I can but never do to great of a job. But my back is all nice and brown and even with the rest of me so its ok.

Yea, I just put it on where ever I can reach and my back is just as evenly dark as the rest of me. Some do use lotion applicators for their back, though.
I don't lotion my back. I can't reach.

I just get as much of my back as I can, and I ALWAYS put my hair up for tanning...my back seems to be nicely tanned like the rest of me, so I guess my technique works

I use a spray on Rose & Mink dry oil. The spray gets all those hard to reach spots. LOL

I don't lotion my back and it is the darkest part of me, go figure?!?!? I do mositurize it though, the hubby helps me after my morning shower.
If I can tie his shoes before he leaves for work he can lotion my back, we help each other out like that.

I carry a small, really soft (almost flannel-like) hand towel in my tanning bag. I slather on my lotion this way by using the towel in a "see-saw" motion across and up and down my back (kind of like when you're drying off your back with a towel, and you hold an end in each hand.)
Even though my back will get dark without lotion, it is sooo much softer with it.

I put lotion on the back of my hand (up toward the fingertips) and then put it on the middle/upper part of my back. I manage to get 95% of my back although it doesn't get rubbed in too well.

I don't put lotion on the upper part of my back because I can't reach it. I do put lotion on my lower back up to as far as I can reach, and my back is still nice and even.

I just do the best I can to reach most of my back, but after I shower I have my husband do my moisturizer or I will get itchy dry spots.

this is what I do as well. there's a few small places I just can't reach, but I never have any problems w/ color there. I also have a few tanning sprays I use to get my back, but I use them mostly when I use a stand up booth.

I do similar things to what the forumers here have said already, i reach until kingdom comes when it comes to my back! I reach the top area of my back with my hands going over each of my shoulders at a time... for my shoulder-blades/sides of my back i reach my right hand across the front of my body through under my left arm to reach my left side, and then opposite for the other.. for the bottom half i just put lotion over my fingers rather than the palm and reach my arms around my back. Usually gets it all even, and usually my back comes out even anyway and stays very well-tanned.

I also use the soft (almost flannel-like) hand towel-trick for my back. It works well - but I prefer my hubby as "back oiler" if possible.

i reach as much as i can, i usually can get it pretty well, but i dont think it will give u an uneven tan, your back is closer to the light and your skin will probably adjust, its not like a farmers tan where you block light to it, its still getting uv rays
