SINCE I HAVE MY OWN BED IN MY BEDROOM,I USED TO SHOWER AND SHAVE THEN GO STRAIGHT TO MY BED TO TAN WHILE STILL WET.
IN ANYONE'S OPINION DO YOU ALL THINK THIS IS AN OK THING TO DO?
OR IS MORE DAMAGING TO THE SKIN OR ANYTHING.
I APPREICATE YOUR INPUT.

i usually always shower b4 i tan. that way i can shave my legs and not worry about shaving off skin that just got uv exposure. and i have never had a problem getting my legs reaaaaaaally tan, and i think it's because i do my shaving BEFORE i tan.

Anya same for me, I almost ALWAYS shower, then head out the door to the tanner. But it is at least 30 min between shower and tan. Before I knew lotions were important that is how I tanned, wet. I used to take a spray bottle or a wet wash rag and as soon as I dried I'd get my skin wet again. I do the same when I am laying outside, and it does seem like I get more color, why wait anyway?

well I always shower and shave before tanning and since my tanning salon is only 2 minutes away,I usually apply my lotion when I get there,so the tingle doesnt have any negitive effect in that short of time

Showering prior to tanning is a good thing. Your pores are more open to accept the lotion. But... it is not recomended to use a tingle product straight out of the shower.

Shower after tanning does not affect your tan whatsoever.... just a myth..

This could be a myth but I have heard that you should wait to tan until an hour or two after you shower. The reason that was given is that you can inadvertently strip your skin of the oils needed to keep your skin moisturized naturally while in the shower. These natural oils help to protect your skin from drying out. However, Mitzi is quite knowledgeable so what I read could be nonsense . Also, using a lotion would help to prevent drying your skin out.

I think I might have to agree with this. Normally I don't shower right away, but an hour after I tanned a remembered I had an errand to run and I had used Dark Kickin Ale (stinky) so I got a shower and tonight I have color developing as usual. It didn't seem to make a differance on me by showering soon afterwards.

Just to comment on this topic.... the lotions I usually use are tingle/bronzer combos and sometimes I will go tanning right after I shower, this is when I see the most results...but also I will tan in the afternoon and a few hours later shower and the tingle in the lotion reactivates and I notice when I am getting dressed and it is the worst feeling in the world but I never notice it when I am actually in the shower...so now I have started washing it off right when I take a shower..that has helped. Does anyone know why it reactivates itself hours after I used it...is it because of the hot water?

i have noticed it reacting again hours later, and certain parts of me always takes longer to stop hurting then others.but i love the color it gives so i guess i can live with it charlotte
