So my hubby and I filed our taxes today and are getting a little money back :P We were suppose to go to St.Croix, Virgin Islands earlier this month but it fell through... now we are planning to vacation somewhere tropical in March...

Any ideas on some awesome places? I've been to Hawaii three times so I'd like to go somewhere else. Possibly the Virgin Islands, but I've been thinking about other places, too. St. Lucia, Jamaica, & the Caymen Islands were some of my ideas... I'm just looking for ideas and reviews if anyone has gone anywhere great.

Thanks for all your input!

P.S. I'm not suppose to be tanning... but to **** with it! I'm starting now for my vacation.. I've got the tanning blues BBBBBBAAAAAADDDD!!!!

My husband & I went to St. Lucia on our honeymoon & we LOVED it! We stayed at Sandals! I HIGHLY recommend St. Lucia - the weather was perfect the entire time we were there. Sandals is great b/c they really treat you like royalty! There were TONS of sites to see & things to do! I'd go back in a heartbeat!

We've also been to Bermuda, but I don't recommend it as much. We went to Bermuda in November, and the weather was pretty crappy, cold & rainy. Also, November we NOT their tourist season & the entire area closed down at like 5pm… thank God we were on a cruise ship so we still had entertainment.

CRUISE then you can go to 3-4 places in one trip. www.cruisecritic.com has lots of good info.

How much money are you looking at tho? cause if cruising isn't for you, I totally recommend tahiti, but the airfare can be costly.

Sandals is def. worth the $$$.

There are 3 different Sandals resorts in St. Lucia. We stayed at The Grand. Its the best!!! I liked this resort better than the other 2 because one of the resorts was like little huts or bungalows, and the other was up on a hill - people said that they had to take a bus down to the beach. At the Grand the beach was right outside our door! Its very beautiful!

I love going to the islands, and try to get somewhere hot and exotic every year, but I gotta tell you, the best vacation I had in a long time was renting a little cottage on a remote lake last year. I took up a little jetboat for sightseeing (it was a huge lake), girlfriend, dog and I did some day trips to Mackinaw Island and some lighthouses, but most of the time we laid on the dock or boat and soaked up the rays. Nothing to do! The only time she put on a top was the day trips and a couple of nights for dinner, otherwise I grilled, three nights fish that I'd caught. My job's a real burner, so it's a luxury to do nothing but relax (and not have to get dressed up). I'm doing it again this summer.

I'm glad to hear good reviews about St. Lucia. How is the water? I'm all about warm BLUE crystal water!

Cunning, I love the lake idea. I used to do that every summer.. but my boy isn't as on board as me as far as roughing it and just relaxing - he has to be doing something productive all the time.

I'd love to go scuba diving and snorkeling, soak up the rays somewhere and prune myself in the warm ocean! I want to be a browned marshmellow when I return home!

Oh and I'd LOVE LOVE LOVEEE to go to Tahiti. That's been my dream since I was very young.

My favorite vacation spot is the Bahamas...been twice and would love to go back. Gorgeous water and lots of stuff to do. Atlantis resort is AMAZINGGGGGG. They also have excersions to small islands and we took one and we were literally the only people on the beach for as far as we could see. But I think for the next vacation my boyfriend and I plan on going to the Phillippines, they have some breathtaking beaches!!

Caribbean islands are great! Jamaica, St. Martin, St.Barts are all lovely. St. Lucia I haven't been to but have heard great things about. We are going to the Dominican Republic this year.

Some of it depends on the kind of vacation you want. Do you like resorts, all-inclusives, cruises, or something smaller scale?
