I would definately say a CERMAIC 3 barrel waver, if you vidal sasoon one isn't ceramic, it may not give as good of a result!

It looks like a relaxed spiral perm. If you have heavy hair it may turn out like that from the beginning. No matter the weight of your hair, you could get some curling rods and try that. I've tried the french braid over night, but my hair is SUPER heavy and it looks like that for a minute, but not for very long. Find a good mousse product and put it in at night after washing your hair. Then, french braid. When you get up, unbraid it and fluff with your fingers. Put on some good hairspray, and you should be good to go.

It looks like a small curling iron or waver like Traci said.
I def don't think it's natural b/c it's too uniform.

It looks like the way I do my hair if I actually take the time to that. Verrrry rare-it is a pain in the hiney to do since my hair is so long.
Here is your recipe for this hair-do. One of the few I can actually pull off w/o screwing up.
I have the smallest barrel Helen of Troy gold series curling iron. Nothing too expensive or fancy. It was 30 bucks at Sally's. I wash, condition, put some gunk in it. Whatever you have on hand, mousse, gel. Either is fine for me. I blow dry it, comb it out straight. Keep in mind, my hair is straight as a stick. I then divide it into two sections on each side of my head like I am getting ready to put it in pigtails. I spray some hairspray on it-the best for me is Sebastian something in the tall silver skinny can. Can you tell it's a been a while since I did this? :) I get the iron very hot and go to town, making ringlets. Once you have done your entire head, separate the ringlets and throw your head around and style like you want. Spray some more hairspray for extra hold.
Your hair will look amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Your hair is gorgeous as it is and with this style it will be that much better!

I LOVE that hairstyle. I have really straight hair & do matter what I do I can't get it to hold a curl. I'd LOVE to be able to do my hair like that!

i know for a fact that the girl has naturally curly hair.....but i heard she used some type of tool or something to get it like that. there is no way natural curls come out that perfect..
thank you soo much sscc....for this mousse thing...i have frizzy thick long hair...so after i shampoo/cond..i would put the mousse on wet hair and then blow dry? bc usually when i do curling iron stuff ill flat iron it first. which is a pain in the as$ but it gets my hair smooth and not frizzy for the style that im trying to do. know what i mean? i know its kinda confusing. and alsoo do you know the exact kind of helen of troy iron you use? ill try and find a list of them or something and see if any of them are the one you have! thanks again!!

You need an undulating iron to acheive that look. You can buy them in multiple sizes from any beauty supply store that sells to the public. You may be able to find a good one on Ebay. Try searching Alexis Pro or the Vidal Sasson professional line.

My only question is after you straight iron you curl your hair? That doesnt make sense even though I understand that the straightening iron takes out that extra frizz, BUT your making it harder for your hair to hold the curl... IF it holds it at all it will only hold for short time... When you blow it dry you can give it some body so its NOT pin straight before curling it, that helps your hair hold the curl... Thats ALWAYS what my salon does when I go in to get it done for any party...
Do you have a good blowdryer?
