I know we don't do politics here much anymore but this is shaping up to be one of the most interesting elections in my lifetime. Whatever your party background, these two are changing the face of US elections for good. What are your feelings about them? As a woman I have always liked and admired Hillary but I see her more and more as someone from a previous time, and her husband's mouthing off hasn't done her any good. Barack is someone who might well be a needed change in all sorts of ways. And the rest of the world will think it is amazing if he becomes president! I'm still undecided though.

Sometimes I get long winded.

I reside in upstate New York. Upstate is anyplace is anywhere that does not include New York City. So Hillary is the New York's US senator.

When Hillary came to NY to run for the senate, most here realized that this was a reward to her from the National Democratic organization for sticking with Bill during the Monica Lewinsky saga. I labeled Hillary a carpet bagger and did not support her.

I was wrong. She is a responsive & intelligent woman who is driven to succeed. I did vote for her in her relection for the senate two years ago. Hillary is a exceptional senator. However, she has a track record and along with her divisive win at all cost personality who will destory anyone who gets in her way, I think she is better suited to be a cut throat executive or trial lawyer. Not the president of the US.

Barack Obama has a brilliant smile and is a new comer. His replies to questions are appealing to many. Barak is strong on generalities but avoids questions which with deal with specifics on how he will do something as President.

I guess that I think that Barack IS THE WRONG COLOR. NOT the color of his skin or his ethnicity, but he is Green. Barack has no experience running or doing anything substantive that I can determine. He is popular and an eleoquent speaker, but I beliewve lacking in the experiece necessary to be President.

In summary - not impressed with either. But if had to choose, Hillary would be the better choice.

As of now I plan to vote for Barack if he gets the nomination. I really just cannot stand Hillary and it has absolutely nothing to do with her womanhood. I think Obama is a great speaker, very intelligent, and he shows a lot of promise for changing some of the things that I believe America needs help with right now. I think the fact that he is African American and has gotten this far shows that America is finally ready for change, and that also applies to Hillary.

I do have a feeling Hillary will win though...

I'm j ust waiting to see what happens, I think both candidates have some really great ideas, and some ideas that I just don't agree with :) I can't wait to see who they vote onto the ballot!

What if Clinton wins the nomination and chooses Obama for her running mate?

Regardless .. I won't be voting for the Democratic candidate in November. As for Clinton being a "carperbagger"? Golly gee. If the people in New York couldn't see she was moving up there just to get elected then they need help in the worst way. Clinton? A New Yorker? Give me a break! Some may be that gullible. Not me. To me .. that would have been reason enough not to vote her into the Senate.

And the Republicans? Without doing in research I would say just about any of the GOP candidates have more "walking about sense" than Bush. No way would I vote for Clinton in November so I'll vote for the GOP candidate.

Obama all the way!! Most of the people my age (at least that I know) are rooting for him.

First of all I like Barack and voted for him as a senator for IL. Personally I don't feel he has enough experience yet. I could see him being president in a later election.

I love Hillary and would be over the moon to see her as the first woman president of the US!

I don't particularly like either of them. Hahaha, I am die hard Rudy 'til the end, even though we all know he's not going to win.

I'm angry at Hillary because when she was elected NY Senator she specifically said that she would not run for president. Look at that, she's not even president yet and she's already lying to us.

If it came down to Hillary or Barack, I'd totally be for Barack. He's so young and refreshing, I think that he's exactly what this country needs, sort of like how JFK was. He's got such big plans for change, I just hope that he can follow through with them.

From liketotan:

"Hillary is a exceptional senator.

Barak is strong on generalities but avoids questions which with deal with specifics on how he will do something as President."

Good analysis.

For me:
John McCain is the only candidate in either party that has the experience, temperment and character for the job.

I love Hillary. People say she is impersonable, but I don't agree. I think she is strong and intelligent and I think she has a plan. Obama isn't bad, but I do not trust that he is ready to take the presidency with the country in its current state. I can see why he appeals especially to the younger voters. He has new, fresh ideas that sound great. Only problem is, how is he going to get to a place where he can implement all of these new ideas?

In short, I want to vote for Hillary. If, however, Obama gets the nomination then I would vote for him.

Taking a tip from Fox News .. "I report .. you decide". There are those who say Obama "does not have the experience" to be President. Yet, they (obviously) believe that Clinton does.

Obama and Clinton are both currently serving their first term in the Senate. (And neither has any previous experience on Capitol Hill). And Clinton is more "qualified"? I don't think so.

Obama did previously serve in the Illinois State Senate. I'm not aware of Clinton ever holding any public office anywhere. In terms of public service neither has an impressive list of credentials. Neither .. and that means Clinton, too.

Unless one wishes to count Hillary's eight years in the White House while Bill was President. Well, heck .. in that regard then Laura Bush has just as much experience as Hillary Clinton.

But .. "I report .. you decide".

This is pretty interesting. Looks like Hillary is the popular vote (which I suspect will be reflected at election time), but there are many sides represented here. I imagine this is a good representation of the general voting population. We'll just have to see what happens, huh?

No way would I vote for Clinton in November so I'll vote for the GOP candidate.

...in that case, let's hope Huckabee doesn't get the nomination! With his insanely close-minded, racist, and homophobic views, I can't imagine that Huckabee would be in support of men tanning...goes against his belief in strict gender roles, ya know :sarcasm:

If it was between Hillary and Barack, I would vote for Obama. I don't have a problem with a woman being president (that would be awesome!) I just don't particularly like Hillary.
I did want to vote for Edwards, but it doesn't look like he has as good of a chance, so I'll probably end up going for Obama-- he seems like a great guy with a lot of good ideas

I don't like either one of them.

Same here.
I'm very conservative and consider myself Republican, so neither one will get my vote.

But then again, I'm very unhappy with Mitt Romney and Huckabee, neither of them appeal to me. I've always liked John McCain though and I like Rudy too.
