Looking for ideas for where to go for summer vacation. It would be me, hubby, and 12 year old son. We may or may not bring 13 year old daughter depending on what we decide to do.

We usually go to Ocean City, which is around a 3 hour drive. We get a condo and our friends get the condo next door. Our friends are not going this year, so we thought we'd try something new.

Any idea for a place not too expensive, but fun for kids and adults? Son has never flown so I think we want to go somewhere that we would fly to, so he can have his first airplane ride.

Suggestions?

Disney is good, or Branson, if you are into country music (and of course Nashville). What kinds of things do you like to do, that will narrow it down a bit.

Disney is always great.

We stay on property, or we rent a house through villadirect.com (reputable great service company)

If you stay on property you can stay in a value resort which are fun or a moderate which are real nice.

7 day trips to Disney are the best deal. Awesome ticket prices and better pricing on renting a home. We had a 4 bedroom townhouse mediterranean style with its own pool. The house was built like 6 months before we got there. We got it for $105 a night. I don't think you can beat that for being close to the parks and all. Great value I think.

Disney would be a blast!! (Florida or Cali)
Wisconsin Dells is alot of fun.
Texas or somewhere to like a "dude ranch" I don't know what they are really called. lol
California to see the Redwoods, heard it is amazing.

I still say Disney if your son and daughter haven't been there, before they get older. I would think they would have great accomodations for her.

Check out Sunset Beach, NC. We went for our first time last summer. It is located just across the border from South Carolina. For any kind of entertainment that you can think of Myrtle Beach is about 20 minutes south.

Beach house rentals are very affordable. We stayed in a 4 bedroom 2 bath, second row home for $1200 for the week. The ocean is much warmer than Ocean City. The drive time from Maryland is about 8.5 hours.
