All total, I've tanned at five. One when I lived in my home town. Last year I tried a little salon that was closer to me, but she closed down. And now I alternate between two. One for the beds, and another for the booth.

I've tanned at 4.... 2 of them only 1 time..... one all the time and one is SHORE's and I tan there whenever I can.

I have tanned at 8 different tanning facilities! Some were tanning salons and some were hair salons. I work at one now and its honestly the best tanning facility I have tanned at so far. The girls are great and I can't complain when it comes to the free tanning! I have learned so much about tanning since I've worked here, even though i knew quite a bit! I've been tanning for seven years!

Lemme see, I think during the past 10 years I tanned at least 6 places. The first sessions were at the Nautilus Gym (sundash wolff beds). 2nd, an "old school" type tanning salon in my town's downtown section. Good prices (same beds as #1) but they allowed smoking in there! Yeech! .
3rd, Another tanning salon just east of downtown. I tanned there quite often. It had incredibly bad A/C and the rooms were bloody hot! I had a mild crush on one of the workers there but never got the nerve to ask her out. lol
4th, a few times at a Little Rock salon in the Ultrabronz. I loved that salon!
5th, a hairstyle place on the west side of town, then they went tanning only later on...Good prices but some of the beds had burnt out bulbs. When the big tanning salon opened up (the one I go to now), they closed shop. Too bad because they had a good high powered 32 bulb bed.
6th, one time at another hairstyle center.
and 7th, my current salon of choice. Too bad they don't have a HP bed...But I love the salon anyways

My favorite place is a tie between the Little Rock salon and the one I'm going to now. Why? because they keep it cucumber cool and the staff is friendly and helpful. Before I began my sessions at the salon I'm using now, I was given a tour and shown all the beds in the facility. Thumbs up!
And in my previous post I said 8 places. Make that 9.
I'm having to rack me brain big time to remember all the salons I used.

I guess I've likely been to half a dozen; the first was one in a hair salon in high school, and I went to three or four in LA during college. When I moved to Austin I tried a few but have been a regular at my current place for three years; it's got an incredible range of high-end beds and booths and they have really good customer service for lotions, etc. It's pricey though! (see next topic!)

I've tanned at 5 different salons. Every time I'd hear of someplace better, I'd give it a try. I'm happy where I go now. The bulbs are always changed regularly, and it's clean. Alot of places around here don't change their bulbs very often.

I've tanned at 6, some were tanning salons others were hair or nail salons with tanning. I switch salons based on how friendly and knowledgeable the empoyees are, how sanitary it is, and whether or not they change the bulbs as needed.

Being "Smart Tan" certified doesn't necessarily make them great salons-(I posted the experiences under BAD experiences at a salon). I thought the same thing at first, that being Smart Tan certified is everything, but in my case it wasn't...

I have been to like 5 places since I was like 16.

For the past 2-3 years I've been going to this one place with this awesome bed though.

It has all facial bulbs and a massaging mattress you lay on.

Too many to list. I check out a new salon at least twice a month. Many salons give discounts and stuff to new members. Some of the deals out here are 3 tans for $6/9 dollars, 50% off a bottle of lotion, Free up-grades. I am always looking for coupons in the mail and newspapers. I have to drive 45 minutes to work and I go through about 7 towns. So I am always looking for tanning signs. Guess that makes me a tanaholic.

The one I'm using now is my 5th salon which is really nice, just wish there were more of a variety - Someone just told me that a new hair salon opened up and they have tanning, I may just go and check it out to see what they have it's only 5 minutes down the road from me.

I've tanned at 5. Two of them are the same salon branch though. The first one was when i was only 14 and it was the only salon who would let you tan under 16 years old. The second one is where I went when I turned 16. The third was when i was a college freshman and this tanning salon was right next to campus. The fourth was Palm Beach Tan which gave away a month of tanning FREE when they opened my sophmore year... now im at Palm Beach Tan in Maryland cuz I took a year off school and I'm home. This is the first time ive been a "religous" tanner... 2 tans and I'm addicted.

3 so far The 1st was at my health club. 3 base beds, none of the staff are knowledgeable about tanning, nor do they have lotions. The 2nd was a 8 bed salon, only one standup. It is clean and the staff is fairly well versed about lotions. They carry a ok selection, mostly AG and CT. The third is billed as the area's Most Elegant tanning spa.....it's super clean, has 4 levels of beds, but no high pressure ones.
They carry DS, CT, SB, AG and Supre. All the staff is Smart Tan certified. The decor is egyptian, with lot's of camel statuary ..MY kind of place! 30 miles away, is a salon that has the Sportarredo HP bed, the only one in NE Wisconsin! Gotta take a trip soon!

Ok, I gotta add my story too.
1- $3 Tan, cheap basebeds, gotta have that appointment in the busy season.
2- A nail place with 2 beds in the back. Long waits, but the only place in town.
3- Nice salon I found with a phonebook coupon. Didn't get to use all my sessions before I moved, though. =(
4- Pretty good place where I had my first upgrade (another phone book coupon), but too far for me to drive to all the time. 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back it too long for a 7 minute session.
5- The best place ever! The place is huge, has 3 upgrade levels plus an hp bed, and the employees are so nice. After all of that, this is the first salon that told me I could buy my own eyewear or the benifits of using a salon lotion. I'm glad I'll finally be in one place for a while and won't have to look for another salon. It would be hard to find one this good.
and...
my grand total is 5 salons in 2 states.

I found a place closer to my house, but when it was time to start my tanning season, they closed. Now I got to a quaint little shop near my home where the prices are sooo reasonable, I thought I died and gone to heaven.

In the past 20 years, I have tanned at dozens(maybe 40-50?) of salons. 2 in the small town where I attended high school, probably 5 others in other small towns in that area. I can think of 8 or 10 others I tried before I moved to FL. I use to live near a city of a million, and probably tried out 15 different salons in that city. Ten years ago, I had a 3 day business trip to Charlotte and tanned at 3 different salons during the trip. I tanned at 2 places when I visited my brother in Germany 5 years ago. I have lived in my present city for the last 7 years and I can think of at least 8 to 10 salons I have been to in this city. There are probably some I left out, but that already puts the total at about 45.
Free first sessions, tanning specials, holidays, convenience, experimentation, and the number of years I have tanned are some of the reasons for that rather large number.

I went to the tanning salon in town when I was in high school It was walking distance and I didn't get my license until I was 17. The machines were very old and the bulbs were never changed. When I started driving I went to the one in across town called, "Traveling time" that place was old too I hated it. Then I heard about Exotic tans. There was 5 locations in RI so I went to the closest one, which was in Johnston. I loved it! All the machines were 2003-2004, new builds, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Then in December my boyfriend and I bought a tanning salon and named it Exotic Tans. We built a great friendship with the Exotic Tans owner and he allows us to use his name.

1. was at a Malibu Tan. Nothing bad ever happened, I just quit tanning.
2. was at a resale shop in Missouri that had a base bed & a standup. I was only i Missouri for a couple of days
3. I tanned at this place before my wedding. The people were rude & I didn't get any color from the beds.
4. I tanned at this place close to my house. The man is very rude & the beds were good, but I couldn't deal with the owner.
5. I tanned at this other place until i was told that they couldn't get me into a base bed for an hour & forty minutes
6. I am still at this salon. It's wonderful!!!
