When I would get hungry I drank a lot of water and if I really had to "snack" I would either have a piece of fruit or celery. But drinking water really makes you feel full. It gets easier after a week or two you don't get hungry cause your stomach will begin to shrink.....Good Luck!

Diets are tough; that's why most don't work over the long haul. Drinking a lot of water is the best way to get rid of pangs, or eat something high-fiber like fruit. And remember, you can still allow yourself the odd treat; it's what goes into your body over the weeks and months on a regular basis that matters. Try to get into a regular exercise routine too; believe it or not, being physically active can actually repress your appetite!

I dont eat fruit! I do drink water though.... I have been dieting for a while and had great success - just when you get down where you only have a few pounds left to lose it is like pulling teeth!!!

I have tried diet after diet ....even went to fasting some to lose weight. Nothing worked like what I do now ....I dont diet,I just dont eat when I dont need to,and I eat all day long ....small meals all day ,every 3 hours.and I dont get hunger pangs EVER....so I dont "fall of the wagon" ...I've lost 30 pounds,so I think it works lol.....I am so glad to not feel like I am deiting, and I'm losing crazy weight. Like bonnie said ....its what you do over a long time that effects you ....I have what I want when I feel I really need it. And it hasn't wrecked my "change" at all. I probably have more to lose then you though,if I only had 10 pounds to lose ...I would just do a crash diet ,and get it over with lol.

HA! I have lost a massive amount of weight.... I do high protein low carb but I am fanatical. I don't eat fruit and I only eat lettuce for veggies. I ONLY eat eggs, fish, chicken, steak and a little cheese and nuts. I feel AMAZING! I dont need sleep, my cholesterol is perfect, my skin is perfect, my periods are perfect, and I cured my diabetes - I will NEVER eat bread, pasta, rice, beans or fruit again

Wow thats great!!! hum...maybe I should try that then lol. I was just thrilled to lose the 30 pounds.....but all that other stuff would be nice to have too lol.
I was thinking you were just on a crash diet, and you were getting those hunger pangs that crash diets give....

Congratulations on your weightloss Lavagoddess. Sounds like you're doing the Atkins style diet. I swear by it too. Cutting out those bad carbs makes a huge difference in your weight and how you feel overall. I eat a lot of raw veggies too though...I need the extra iron and vitamins.

I've been limiting my carbs for over a year and starting yesterday I'm following the Atkins 2 week start-up diet. I did this iver a year ago and lost 24 pounds in a few months. I'm a bridesmaid in my friends wedding on the 20th so I have to lose at least 5 pounds by then, which is pretty easy if you follow Atkins perfectly. My hubby took me grocery shopping and I bought alot of the sugar free and low carb foods that I used to eat religiously. I'm actually excited about doing this again because it works great. Lavagoddess, it does get addictive...the weight loss, doesn't it? Once it starts coming off (which is fairly quick) it's actually fun to step on the scale. It's actually not a diet for me either since I've watch my carbs for a year & a half.

You guys ever try the SmartOnes line from Weight Watchers? I like it a lot, and the treats are good too. Their ice cream is so delicious and it's sweetend with Splenda.

I love anything with Splenda. That is by far the best sweetener. Has anyone tried the ice cream made with Splenda called "Slender"? It is almost as good as Breyers.

Kristygal - do you know how many carbs splender has per serving?? I LOVE Spenda! Amazing alternative to sugar

YOu know the carbs in a serving of Splenda are so low it can easily be cancelled out with a few grams of Protein. To cancel your carbs you should eat 1 gram of protein per every 5-6 carbs. This is for a woman though. I am not sure what the intake is for a man?

I want to start the Atkins diet, but get so confused with what to eat?
For those of you that have lost weight with this, what types of food are you eating throughout the day?
I know I read that you are not to have coffee because it may cause sugar cravings, but can you have coffee if you swear you wont have the sugar? What about diet soda? I just get so lost because carbs are such a big part of my menu each day...cereal, bagel, english muffin for breakfast...sandwich for lunch, granola bar for a snack, and I usually always have carbs in my dinner too...Uugh!
Anyone HELP PLEASE! I am desperate I have treid everything...Feel free to PM me
justme, for instant results:
20-30 minutes of high intensity (approx 80% of max heart rate, don't do 45 minutes of low intensity BS) first thing in the morning BEFORE eating. Then have a protein shake (WITHOUT carbs, so don't add milk) Wait an hour and a half until you eat again.
Stop eating starchy carbs. Absolutely no bread, pasta, rice, etc. Also, forget about sugar of any sort. Stick with vegetables (cooked little as possible) and lean meats as your primary food sources. Roll back your carbohydrate intake later in the afternoon/evening.
You should see a difference within 4-5 days if you are strict. Other people will notice in less than two weeks. You will have substantial results in a month if you're strict. Don't waste your time with Hydroxycut, unless you need it for the placebo effect. Hydroxycut's thermogenic benefits are only about 100 kcal per day, which isn't much.
bronzebabe,
Atkins requires you to comprise your diet on only (well, mostly) protein and fat. You don't have to go on a full-up Atkins diet to loose weight, just cut back your carbs. Think of it this way: your body stores excess sugar as fat, so whatever carbohydrates you eat that your body doesn't need will be converted to fat. (Fat contains over double the energy than carbs, so it is most efficient for your body to store excess as fat, then covert it back to glucose(sugar) when needed) So just ask yourself every time you're about to eat something with carbs: does my body need more sugar to function right now? Sometimes yes (like before a workout) and sometimes no (like two hours before you go to bed).
I can talk about this a lot more, so let me know if you need any specifics, otherwise I'll single-handedly overload the iamtan server.

Atkins says to stay away from caffeine also, but I don't. You can have coffee & tea as long as you don't use sugar (use sweetener). Here are the absolute no, no's:
Sugar (anything w/sugar has loads of carbs)
Potato (especialy sweet potato)
corn
bread
pasta
cereal
yogurt
waffles
bagels
rice (big no,no)
beans (loaded w/them)
apples
bananas
pears
These are off the top of my head. If anyone wants meal suggestions PM me, I have lots of them since I've been doing this for so long. If you love pasta, make meatballs & pour sauce and shredded mozz cheese & eat so you don't feel as if you're completely missing out (this helps me!)

what about the exinadrin....(spelling) does that work?
I guess you mean Xenedrine? I don't believe in any of those things. Some of my friends claim that Xenedrine/Hydroxycut/etc help with appetite control, but I don't experience that. I think that since these products are expensive, it psychologically helps people maintain their diet ("I'm spending all this money on supplements, so I better eat right for even better results").
These products will produce a thermogenic benefit of about 100 kcal per day, which isn't very much. Drink one soda, and you've more than negated the benefit!
I don't think these products are dangerous when used correctly. I used to take Hydroxycut very strictly before I learned how to properly control my diet. Trust me, the latter is WAY more effective.
The most irritating thing is, you will get somewhat addicted to the product. When I was taking Hydroxycut regularly and I forgot to take it in the morning, I would have a constant headache and feel lethargic all day. Similar to a coffee addict not getting their coffee in the morning!
Bottom line: you are what you eat![ This Message was edited by: J74 on 2003-09-10 13:19 ]

In addition to cutting WAY back on my sugar/fat intake and exercising 4 times a week, I took Xenadrine EFX for about 6 weeks at the beginning of my diet. It made me feel less hungry than I normally would. I'm too afraid of ephedra products to use them! After I got adjusted to my new diet I stopped with the pills with no withdrawal symptoms or anything.

If you abuse Ephedra...yeah it will hurt you.
