1) Are you washing your make-up off prior to tanning? (If not you should be for several reasons.. spf's, make up can lead to "spots", etc..)
2) Are you using a facial tanner? We suggest our customers who feel there face is not as dark use Matahari Lustrous.. It is a very nice facial lotion with a light bronzer...
3) You could also switch your daily powder over to California Tan's Suddenly Sun... You will get a great bronzed look from this..

be sure to use a lotion that is designed specifically for facial tanning.... Saving Face by Designer Skin and Carotene Creme by JA are 2 excellent products that will really boost color in your face. and also, if you haven't already, try using beds with facial tanners for a few sessions. They will really make a difference in your color.

The Salon I go to doesn't have a facial tanner and the only face stuff they have is that cal tan step one stuff. So I use what I have.

cal tan only makes a step one face lotion but u can use that all the time. is there another salon around that does have a facial tanner? cus if u feel u need a boost it would be well worth it

actually there is, but I can only buy a package at 1 tanner or hubby would .... well you know. However after his $165 jump today he shouldn't complain. This other salon has a may special of $20 for 5 sessions but they do it weird. You go in this one room with lights on 4 corners for 1-5 min, then into the bed for 25 min I think it was. Never seen anything like that before. Of course I was an old time tanner, probably tanned before some of you were born....lol, then I quit for a good many years so I haven't seen a lot of things before.

CalTan makes Illuminate and it should help your face tan. It contains lots of great ingredients to boost color AND take care of delicate facial tissue. Lustrous by Matahari is my only other suggestion. It contains a light bronzer which I know you said you didn't like.... but if your face isn't tanning and it is really bothering you, try the Lustrous. You won't be disappointed.

Also be aware that some moisturizers have sunscreen in them as well. So even if you are not wearing makeup, you may be blocking the rays by having SPF in your moisturizer. This can slow the tanning process for your face.

Well, the last few times I have tanned, it seems my face is getting burned! Nothin else, just my face! Now to be completely honest the last time may or may not have been from standing outside as I said earlier in the thread, it was chilly, damp and windy. My lips are real chapped as well so it could very well have been that, but even before that, the last few times I tanned my face burned.
PS I am really sorry, I did not mean to hijack this thread.

I love Saving FaceS too. It's very moisturizing. My face is hard to tan and turns red. I think mine gets red if I overexpose it in the bed. So what I do is tan my face only 5 or 6 min each session. My face doesn't need as much exposure, it can't take it.

when you're outside for any length of time, you need to use SPF 15 or more... the wind is very drying on your face as well so I am always careful to apply moisturizer more frequently when I'm outside a lot. if you overexpose your skin outside, then you will burn in a tanning bed.

make sure you use a lip balm with at least spf15 in it also

Tanny, that stuff is great! I use it too. Have you tried Lustrous by Matahari? It works really well in the tanning beds.

I sometimes use a self tanner on my face called Summer Illusion by California Tan, I like it and use it at night before bed. I havent had a problem with it mixing in with my tan or looking to fakey. I hope this helps you.
