Hey everybody,
I've just recently started tanning. I've never really spent any long, extended amount of time in the sun, so this is all new to my skin... I'm very pale, brown hair, light eyes... Anyway, I guess I started tanning in a bed almost two weeks ago. From my neck down to my tummy, everything has been tanning fine. I'm just now starting to see my arms and hands get SOME color, but my legs seem a bit reluctant. The past two times I've gone, I've put a bit of baby oil on my legs, and that's helped a bit... I'm not really sure about the different beds and types. I believe the bed I've been using is a Wolf or something. It's just a plain lay down bed with the lights on both sides with the acrylic. I usually stay in about fifteen or more minutes... Maybe it will just take a while before my legs get any major color because I'm naturally fair. I don't go to a salon, I use the bed at my gym because it's convenient, so I can't really go buying a bunch of lotions and potions, haha. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

1)Baby oil is not good to tan with..... you can buy a good indoor lotion for under $20 that is so much better for your skin and for your tan.

2) Tanning is a PROCESS... so it will take some time for you to build up color, especially if you're just starting. Slowly build up your time when you stop seeing color at a given time. Never tan if you are pink anywhere because overexposed skin will not tan. And be sure to take a day off in between sessions to give your skin a chance to replace lost moisture and oils.

3)Moisturize your skin daily after showering and before bed with a good body lotion, preferably one that does not contain mineral oil. This will make a big difference.

Okay, I think I can manage all of that. Since I'm already doing fifteen minutes and I do get pink, should I go down to ten and just work up slowly, or just stay at fifteen for awhile?

Take some time to let the pink go AWAY! Then start at maybe 10 min or lower if necessary and work your way up!
