Ok I think it's about time I get into a tanning booth, but what I've been reading lately about tanning booths/beds terrifies the **** out of me. From UV rays to blindness *shudders* My question is, seeing as it's going to be a first time for me, what would you recommend (booth/bed?)? and how long should I be in there for? and I don't want a dark tan, I just want a nice even tan so what lotions do you recommend?
Oh and also I don't plan on making this tanning booth/bed thing a regular for me, so I'm worried that seeing as I'm not going to be a regular, will the tan just disappear on me and I become this pale again or is it like a real tan?

Welcome to iamtan. The blindness would be caused by not using proper eye protection. Have you taken the skin typing questionaire? If not, I would suggest you do so. Your salon will probably have you fill one out when you first visit, although if not, there are links here to a couple. You might have to do a search for them. Depending on your skin type, you'd probably want to start out somewhere between 5 - 8 minutes if you're using a 20 minute bed. Have you checked out the love it shove it forum? There's lots of great lotion info in there. And we've discussed just about every lotion made. Oh, and I would suggest starting out in a bed first instead of a booth.

What do you mean by making the bed/booth thing regular?
Tanning in a bed/booth is just like getting sun outside. If not kept up, it will fade. A tan from a bed/booth is a real tan.

Try this one. I think california tan also has one on their website.

Also, about the goggles. I know I MUST wear them but I'm also a bit pale around the eyes and I'm afraid that wearing the goggles will make me look freakish. I don't want it to be that my face is tanned except around my eyes. Can that be helped?

Yes and no. It depends on what eye protection you use. If you're just starting out tanning, it will be a while before you'd have to worry about raccoon eyes. Eyepro's disposables would be your best bet. If your salon doesn't provide them, you could move the goggles around a little bit, just make sure your eyes are protected at all times.
