I would really like to start tanning. I am very pale and freckled. I can tan, but i usually burn, then tan. I considered using the Mystic Tan/ spray on tan, or maybe the stand up beds, but I don't know... I want to get a good base tan for the summer. Help me please

I would start out even lower! Maybe only 5 min. Remember to use a good step 1 lotion, and moisturize.

tell the people at your salon what the situation is and what your goal is.... they can set you up to build a nice dark tan without burning...

Use a high pressure bed.

I am an agreement with everyone else. Take it slow, don't rush it. Your salon should be able to help you.

Yes trust your salon to guide you. However, if they try to put you in longer than what we've suggested don't let them.

What is a "High Pressure bed"? (That's new to me?!?!?!!?)

Tell them you want the bed with the lowest % of UVB. Tell them must be less than 2%. If they don't have a bed like that than find a salon which does. Alot of salons do. When you find the bed, start at 6 minutes and increase your exposure time by 2 minutes each time providing that you do not burn. By the time you can do a full session, you'll be able to maintain with the other beds.

By the way, high pressure beds are beds with all face tanners for your whole body. Some emit minimal amounts of uvb while others emit a much higher percentage. It all depends on the filter system the bed uses. Tell us what beds are in your area and we will be better equipped to advise you.

If you are lookig for a quick tan then use the Mystic but if you want to keep your tan for a while then i suggest Tan on a bed.

dont necessarily trust the people at the salon because they may have no idea what they are talking about and could have just read the instructions anyone could read on the tanning bed itself

You sound just like me. I have freckles, I am fair skinned and I easily burn first and then tan. I have been tanning since last Wednesday, but I don't know what the beds are called or any details on them. We only have one tanning salon here in my town so I use it. Today was my 8th session and I can't believe how much color I already have! I started at 6 minutes and each time I would go in the salon they would ask me how I did and that would determine my minutes for that day. I did very well each time but once, I think the 3rd session, I did get a little pink so I skipped 2 days until the pink was gone. My butt and breasts were still a little pink though so I just kept them covered for another 2 sessions. But all is great! I just can't believe how fast I am tanning and I am only up to 10 minutes! I use Frosted Hemp as my lotion which I heard great things about here on this board and then when the salon recommended it to me I had no hesitation on buying that one. I hope you have great success on your tan! And keep reading the posts on this board, it has helped me tremendously! God Bless!

I am NOT a expert but... I was really white LOL~ I would say if you burn easy try 5 minutes or less, I know that your excited about becomming tan but if you take it too fast you will burn And if you burn often, just think about those places that haven't seen the sun. They are even more sensitive. Try a few sessions and if you don't burn then up it by a minute or two. Have fun!
