It depends on your genetics. A person of Italian/Greek, etc. descent will tan faster than a person of Irish/Scottish descent. It can take as little as 8 sessions for some people to get tan, others take a month or two to get a color that they like. It also depends on what beds you are using. Start your time out at 5-8 minutes depending on how fair skinned you are. For sensitive parts of the body you might want to cover it for part of the time. I never did cover unexposed parts and I never had a problem, but it's really up to you.

Well, Spank, Welcome to the board, Enjoy
I'd recommend going really slow with your tanning, maybe 5 mins for the first 3-4 sessions, then up it maybe 3 mins for the next 3-4 sessions, and so on untill you get to the full time for your bed. I'd stay away from hot and tingle lotions until you get a good base tan, and it took me a couple weeks to notice some good color, but you may be different A couple Personal tips for a good tan,
1) Moisturize regularly daily with a good lotion or even an after tan lotion like Fully Loaded by Fiesta Sun (my fav), Angel By Designer Skin, or total Immursion By California tan.
2) try a body wash instead of soap, which dries your skin, and you can find several tanning company body washes.
I hope some of these Ideas help you, and just remember, Don't rush to get color, a good tan is made over time Have Fun and Happy Tanning!!

Wow you already got lots of good tips, but let's see. Always keep moving in the bed, because later on, you'll regret it if you don't. (I have stripes on my sides that are dang near impossible to get rid of!) And have fun with it! It feels great, and if you get sweaty and uncomfortable, always remember what the end result will be.

Welcome to the board spankdwhite!! You'll probably start to notice some color after a few sessions. Try using an acclerator when you tan to help you build your base tan you'll get darker faster. I would only tan every other day, so that your skin has a chance to rejuvenate itself and you don't overexpose yourself. If you start to burn cut back on your time a little bit.
