Do you notice whether you get better results if you tan a few hours before you go tan? Or do you not get many results or no difference?

If you use bronzers, shaving does remove part of the upper levels of your skin which that bronzer has bonded too meaning the remaining skin's appearence is streaky or patchy.

I will shower after tanning often within an hour if I have not used a bronzer. My feeling is that my skin is still reacting to the UV rays as long as I moisturize after the shower then I am replacing any moisturization I lost in the shower.

I try to wait a few hours after tanning if I can at all help it.... I definitely wait when I'm using a DHA bronzer because it needs a few hours to do its work.
If I know I'm going out shortly after tanning and have to shower, I don't use a DHA bronzer... just a plain browning lotion.

Quit shaving!
We recently discovered leg waxing and your legs tan twice as dark - its great
And ladies this is the best part you don't have to shave every day

That's why I allways shave before I put on my bronzer!

Luvrott - yes we at Styling Sun-Sations - we discovered one of our hairdressers does leg waxing and it's going over great. We had to rent the space next to us, we needed her room for another bed. She also does massages.
It does not hurt nearly as bad as you would think, getting my eyebrows done hurts worse then the legs. The worst part is you have to grow the hair on your legs out for about two weeks.

Glad I don't have to worry about this issue!

The tanning process actually continues for a period of time after a tanning session. Taking a shower will remove the mantel acid from your skin and slow down or stop this continued tanning process. It is recommended you not shower for 2 hours after your tanning session or 1 hour before.

i hate how you smell after you tan, even when i use lotions with a biosachride complex i smell but i've heard showering within a few hours takes away your tan bc it hasn't had time to set in.. so i just wait to shower

I SHOWER BEFORE I TAN!

that works too
With all respect to my friend Greta and the info she quoted, the acid mantle has nothing to do with the tanning process. The acid mantle is nothing but a thin layer of sweat and sebum on the OUTER surface of the skin (on the acid side of the PH scale, thus the "acid" name), and its main functions are to inhibit bacteria growth, and to protect against the elements. And while this barrier also helps prevent skin dehydration, moisturizing after showering will prevent any dehydration from taking place. And in any case these small hydration variations are part of the natural cycle of our skin, our largest organ; it contracts and expands, hydrates and de-hydrates, etc etc. So I would like to state categorically, and from what little knowledge I have on the subject, that you CAN take a shower right after tanning and this WILL NOT interrupt the tanning process.
Cheers,
PJ

my skin gets MAD if i shower right after, especially my face. moisturizing doesn't help either - red, red, red. also, doesn't the lotion need time to work? we have gotten promo videos that say 4-6 hours from sb and ag. if you don't use a lotion i guess it couldn't hurt though. anyway i shower before i tan. my color always seems better that way.

I mostly shower before I tan, since I tan in the mornings. If I didn't use a bronzer, dha, or tingle in my lotion then I don't hestitate to shower after I tan if I need to. My color is still the same either way.

As I have said before, I always wait! My skin always feel more moisturized after I tan with a good lotion than it does after I shower and moisturize. So I guess the answer to the question is that I don't shower after! At least not for several hours.

I always shower, shave etc. before tanning, and sometimes after showering put on tanning lotion to moisturise and obviously helping to prep up the skin. I don't sweat loads when tanning so that's not so bad. Tan leaves to develop as long as it wants!

I tan around noon so I shower at night. I also exfoliate before I shave every 7 days. I do shave every other day though .

years ago, when I first started indoor tanning, they told me not to shower for 4 hours after tanning, because it stopped the tanning process. I don't know if that still applies to the tanning industry today, but I always try to wait.

Also, for the one who recommends waxing, do you have this done professionsally, or can you do it yourself?
