They are used as moisturizers. It may be a good marketing gemmick, but it works! Too many test have been done on the effects for it not to work at all.

Well, Hemp Seed Oil has a rich source of fatty acids and amino acids...which is very moisturizing to the skin...
And Moisturized skin tans beautifully...

My mom wouldn't be happy if she found the bottle. Like I am going to smoke the lotion. *rollseyes*

I love the lotions personally. The tanning and the moisturizer. Of course there is marketing involved, but that goes for everything you buy. They smell good, are VERY moisturizing and give good results.

well i wouldn't say that hemp lotions are like wonder lotions that they are so much better than others. but hemp seed oil is very moisturizing so if a tanner has dryier skin they might want to use a hemp lotion to get that extra moisture

You know.... in High School that was the only thing I could draw well! LOL!
On a more serious note, maybe I oughta try hemp lotion because most lotions moisturize my skin for about 30 min then I need more. Last night I did a test, I put body drench on 1 leg and total immersion on the other. The BD side after about 2 min looked dehydrated again. The TI side still looked pretty good after a few min but then I went to sleep so I don't know exactly how long it looked good. I know the TI side felt a lot softer.

I think that it's mostly a marketing gimmick. Lotions also have sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, etc. all of which contain the same things but I don't see manufacturers creating bottles with giant olives on them.
that being said, one of my favorite lotions is SB Swedish Hemp Creme... but I think the performance is based upon ALL of the ingredients, not just the hemp seed oil.
I think that the pot leaf on bottles is pretty tacky, though... cheap move to atttact the high school kiddies.
there is an oil derived from the plant that is very beneficial. but i guess lotion companies thought it was s-e-x-y to use the pot marketing angle. i don't agree with it but it's not my call.

if you like hemp lotion (I love the stuff) try hemp seed oil shampoo & conditioner. It makes my hair super soft and silky, I hate to use anything else, but sometimes I have a hard time finding it.
