I need to know the orders one should go in...more than just step 1 or 2 but a definition of what a step 1 and 2 would be also where tingles should play in ?
something like start with_____________, then move to __________, mix it up with ___________.
stuff like that.

well it all depends on the brands you want to use. I think John Abate has a nice system.

Its mainly important to use a moisturizer at first and get a base tan, then work your way up through tingle lotions, which will give you the best tan

My view is start with "natural" products that do not have taingling, bronzing or cooling. Start at the lowest price point focus on Moisturization and as your tan advances buy more advanced "natural" products with better skin conditioning ingredients.
Use a bronzer on a regular basis before going out to "even" out your tan.
If you use High Pressure/High Intensity equipment consider using a cooling product to counter the physical heat of the bed.
Always use After exposure/moisturizers designed for tanning!
Look for Aloe Vera Based products instead of water based products for the best lotions.

Step 1 and 2 is something that only 1 company uses... other companies have several levels while some do not differentiate between "steps".

see THAT's the kinda stuff I mean.....basic info so that if you go to a salon with a staff that doesn't know, YOU will. So a basic knowledge of steps or levels, you know?

greta, you are doing the right thing by reading and posting here... this is where you can learn about those topics. That is how I learned what I know... by reading information posted by salon owners, manufacturers, and experienced tanners.
I think that Greg gave a good general guideline above. "Step 1", beginning, natural, etc. lotions are excellent for building a tan. The "Step 2", advanced, tingle, bronzer, etc. lotions were designed to be used to "break" a tanning plateau... a point at which you are not getting any darker. Once you have passed the plateau, you can go back to using the "natural" products.... but it seems that when we start using the advanced lotions, we like them and then we stick primarily to using those.

Level 1 has your "jump start" properties in it.. Think of it this way.. My body is more like a plant than anything else..
It needs it's vitmins minerals and moisture and sunlight, and needs to be cut back when it has dead leaves.. correct?
Level 1 is like giving your skin a shot of Peters 20/20 .. and the level 2 is like giving it a big drink of water..Exfoliation is the cutting the dead off..
You need the level 1 to give it a boost..
Or even layer a level 1 and 2 to enhance the tanning process when youv'e reached a level and can't seem to get any more color.. do this process after you exfoliate.. watch your color increase..
