Cut carbs. i.e. no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, fruit, candy, etc. Take in lots of lean meat like chicken and turkey. Eat some peanuts in moderation...you NEED some fat! Get some vitamins. Stop dairy products two weeks out. If you really want to accelerate fat loss, do 20-30 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning.

Warning--you're going to feel like crap! Good luck!

Good point, Laura! If you exercise daily and eat healthy foods, you should feel better, not worse! I suspect J74 was referring to hunger pangs? You can avoid them by drinking water and eating fiber.

By the way,you said you were losing weight for a cruise? Does that mean all this will go straight out the window once you are on the boat?!!!! Have fun!

Well, I guess I'm taking it to the extreme. Yes, you should feel better when you exercise daily and eat healthy, but I'm referring to stripping weight very quickly. If you're strict, it isn't fun. Some of my friends who've done body building competitions have almost lost their jobs because of their lack of energy and productivity when dieting before contests (thats why I don't do them).

The advice I gave was along the lines of what I would do to strip weight quickly, not a maintenance diet. If you are strict (NO CHEATING AT ALL) about dropping out carbs and you're exercising, you WILL feel like crap, but you'll feel good about how you look (so it cancels out, maybe?)

I'm able to vary my body weight from 220 to 190 lbs seasonally by simple diet changes. If I make the spring weight drop quickly, it is miserable!

I've been there, J74, when I was competing; I know the feeling!

Eat natural foods, and eat them raw. When you cook your veggies it kills the enzymes your body needs for nutrition. It's the same with all foods.
Use your meats (poultry & beef) in moderation. Fish is an exception because it is so high in Omega fat acids and proteins, it's just plain good for you, plus fish naturally contains iodine which is very important for thyroid support.

My sugestion is to eat organic if you can afford to do so, and stay away from refined sugars and flours. Our bodies do not understand how to break down all this nasty processed food that our society is so accustom too. So, in turn it turns it into sugar and stores it as fat making you have to burn it off through exercise.

If you were to take that "joke" of a food pyramid and flip it over, you will lose, and it will come off fast.

It is better to eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 big one's because this will always keep your metabolism on it's toes, and never miss breakfast.Drink at least 2 gallons of water a day, and stay away from caffine. Drink decaf tea if water is boring, or just twist some lemon or lime in your water for some flavor.

THere are lot's of foods that are good naturall fat burners. Like, raspberries. You can mix them with a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese 4% milk fat, and it a wonderful little snack. Apples, Red bell pepper's and blueberries are some other natural fat burners. I have lot's of little snack and meal recipies if you are interested.

But, if all else fails just eat raw; stick with nature, and those Weight Watchers Smartones are very healthy & beneficial for weight loss too.

Obviously, your "diet" for the next three weeks is not going to be what you do in the long term. There are a lot of people who can give you never-ending advice on what to do. It is really a compromise. How much do you want to change your lifestyle for the results you want to achieve? I'll tell you right now, nobody sticks to a sudden, drastic change in lifestyle. (unless faced with a health-threatening issue)

I don't believe in these stupid lose-weight-instantly scandals. That isn't the way you want to lose weight. I don't believe in supplements either. (except protein and creatine, but that a whole different story) It is all about your diet...I say 90% diet and 10% exercise!

Do a search on the internet for glucose and insulin. Try to understand the technical articles. When you get an understanding about how your body uses carbohydrates, you will have a better understanding of how to tailor your diet to suit your needs...for short term and long term results!

Good luck!

My husband has lost a lot of weight by simply not eating after 6 pm. Also, drinking water or diet drinks.

first of all workout. 20 minutes of cardio a day isn't going to cut hardly any fat off of you, so get in the weight room and lift weights and do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day.

Eat mostly meat. Throw in some fruits and vegetables in there for roughage, try not to eat any unneccesary carbs, and don't eat any carbs after 6 pm. Also don't walk around feeling hungry, when that happens your bodies metabolism will slow down. don't forget to eat a lot of meat, if your only eating vegetables your body will eat up all of your muscles before it startes eating your fat.

Good luck to you, you should have worried about this monthes ago though.

1. You are what you eat.
2. Eat to live, don't live to eat.

Exercise won't help if you're not eating right.
