Okay all you experts, what are some good ways to ensure even coverage and reduce streaking? How do you do it?

I try not to apply too much bronzer at one time, and to use a circular motion. Most importantly, take your time.

I've never had any problems with the hair. I think the most trouble comes from people who don't have a base tan who use bronzers.

I will go check it out a little closer, I think I stopped reading that one after I posted in it. *shakes head at self*

You can streak? I suggest just rub it in good.

yeah, it can streak if not applied evenly.

you can if you aren't careful. I have not had any problems except around my ankles and wrists though.

I have never had any problems with streaking. I have only noticed a little staining on my bottom wrists and no one probably sees that anyway.

I just wipe my wrists like I do my hands.

do circular motions help? and what about that in between the fingers crap?

yes circular motions help to reduce streaking, and wipe between your fingers right after applying the lotion.

i always apply my face lotion first and rub the excess into my hands. that helps with the bronzer being totally absorbed into dry skin but always wipe with either the towel or wet ones to avoid the dreaded orange palms. wipe between fingers since the lotion collects there too. i've forgotten a few times and looked goofy for afew days

Colorgod is right: Streaking comes from when a customer is using a bronzer that gives a much darker colorization that their current skin tone. Noone self applies bronzers perfectly, if a very fiar skin person is usiong a very dark bronzer anywhere they do not evenly or perfectly apply the product will "appear" discolored.

I suggest that very fair skinned tanners start with a medium to light bronzer then user a darker bronzer once their natural tan has developed more.

thanks for the fabulous advice Greg! A lot of people have traumatic episodes with bronzers because they jump into an advanced one too quickly...

and can you share your tips for preventing stains on hands?

Can we get some recommendations on a light bronzer?

Chica, I think you recommended Worship and I have a sample of that coming. Anything else?

Worship has a light bronzer... so does Sun Tea by FijiBlends.... those are the only 2 that I can think of off the top of my head. I use a lot of the really strong DHA bronzers because my tan is pretty dark. I'm sure others will have some good suggestions for light bronzers for you.

I don't like light bronzers, but I think Worship is a good light bronzer. Very light!

I might be wrong but I think Greg's Immediate is a bronzer that's suitable for beginning tanners.... I use it and I like it. It has a great scent too.

Chica, how about Black Tea? Is it light?

I thought it was a dark bronzer.... but I remember Christine' saying that it was suitable for everyone... I don't think I would recommend it as a 1st bronzer.

Ok, because I have a friend who is about to start tanning and wants a light bronzer.

I'd recommend Worship or Sun Tea. I stick by my original suggestions.

I love Fiji Blend, it's the Black tea blend stuff I am using now. I am naturaly a little dark skined. I have Shawnee Native blood in me, so tanning is no struggle...lol
I used a step two lotion from California Tan to get my base, and then quickly switched to the Fiji with bronzers. I have had no problems with streaking. Only some minor orange effect on my palms, but that was my fault. I didn't wipe them off good enough. I am getting ready to upgrade myself. Gonna' try that Goddess lotion everyone is raving about, and switch on and off with a more powerful bronzer. Found a really inexpensive place to buy lotions on-line. Are we allowed to post links? thanx.

I am very fair skinned myself. I thought the bronzer was too light or unnoticeable with Worship, but Sun Tea has been great. I also had great color with SB's browning syrup, but it was a bit too dark for my skin.

Another piece of advice, if you apply bronzer on your neck like I do, make sure you get the back of your neck and behind your ears so it doesn't look goofy when you wear your hair up.

I find that as long as the bronzer I am using, isn't too dark (the actual color of the lotion) I don't have any problems. Sometimes I have orange on my hands though, even when I wash & use baby wipes.
