I was toying with the idea of paying $50 for an unlimited month at a nearby salon that has an Omega, Orbit, Hex, and some other medium and low pressure beds (though their low pressure units look like home units to me!) I started filling out the paperwork today, and the girl asked me which bed I wanted to use and I said Omega for the full 20 minutes. She said it was a 16 minute bed, and that she could not set it for any longer. I explained to her that the bed specs clearly indicated a max time of 20 minutes, but she said there was nothing she could do about it. I tore up the papers I was about to sign and told her that their salon has a bad reputation for discouraging the use of the mp and hp beds and that I was no longer interested. I added that unless they were trying to tell me that they had VERY recently changed the lamps in the Omega, that there was no reason I could not stay in for 20. She just kept telling me she could only set it for 16.
Perhaps I would have gotten my money's worth with the 16 minutes, but I cannot stand to be given the runaround. So they can keep their 16 minute Omega. Grr.

Absolutely: It sounded like the deal was too good to be true!

The cost of running tanning units is significantly higher at start up, not when they are running. Not sure what her motive was. Boobrandt, you seem to be one very diligent with questions and research, can you go over her head and find out?
