I have a problem. I am not sure its related to my tanning...although I havent changed anything else in my life to make me believe it could NOT be tanning.
I tan 3-4 times a week. I have been since Feb. 2003. I used to go more times, but have cut it down since summer began. I have noticed in the last few weeks, that after I go tanning (I go Mon., Tues., Wed., then take the rest of the days off) that by Sat. and Sun. I am itchy. Normally when I go in the sun or begin to sweat. I am not allergic to the sun. When I was pregnant with my daughter in '98 I did have an allergic reaction to the sun and had a rash when in the sun but do not seem to get any rash, just itching. I do use cream religiously after showering. Normally Aveeno. Am I tanning too much? I mean, when I took a trip to Florida, I am from NY..I will be honest, I did NOT get any tan at all! No tan lines NOTHING! I was kind of surprised I didnt burn or anything considering we were in the sun and I didnt wear any SPF. What would you suggest? Should I cut back on tanning? I am sorry this is so long winded, its hard to fit everything about you into this! Any further questions that might help, just ask!
Thanks guys!

I would use lots of lotion to keep your skin soft and moisturized. It's probably the tanning that is making you itch. Tanning is a very drying process. The areas that are least exposed to the sun will probably itch the most so make sure you use a lot of lotion on those places. Maybe you should try to tan every other day like, mon-wed-fri, that way your skin will have a day in between to rest.

are u possibly allergic to the bed cleaner? tanning lotions? it could be other things that could be causing the reaction

I think the itching is due to the tanning, I have this problem sometimes. Like BrownJen said, tanning is totally drying for your skin so if you're not using a good lotion you will itch. What I do is make sure my lotion is super moisturizing & after I tan I always use a good moisturizer like something with shea butter. Also lately, I've been using baby oil in the shower right before I get out. I rub it all over, then towel the excess off. This has worked great for me & my skin is super soft!

Good luck Allicat, and try to avoid moisturizers that have a lot of fragrance in them-they can make you itch. Laundry detergents too. Could be any number of things, you have to change one thing at a time to determine the cause, but it sounds like you're doing the right things!

I wanted to let you guys know, I have broken out in a sort of rash. It seems to be a whitish rash. Almost like when you have small blisters? I havent burned or anything so I am kind of lost. I talked to the people at my salon and the one girl wasnt sure what is was but made a comment that she had heard the manager talking about a rash like this a few days ago. So she would check it out and let me know. All I know is, I went tanning today and when I was done, I had broken out about an hour later on my back again and it was the same small, blistery, whitish type. Hmmmmmm, Im lost. I hope it isnt anything creepy! lol Kind of would remind you of water blisters...although like I said, I didnt burn! I also have them on my chest. That is the only place other than my back, buttocks, back of legs and hips. Strange its only on my backside! Do you agree??
Plus, the heat makes it worse!!

I had a terrible itch for a while and kept getting a rash as well... I wipe the bed down with water and used fragrance fee lotion, soap and no shave cream and it went away after a week or so... Try some benadryl cream until the itchiness stops

Sungoddess, I know exactually what your talking about. The same thing happens to me when I use certain tingle lotions. I get them on my chest and lower calves on the front side. No where else. I just moisterizer alot and try not to scratch. That makes it worse! Maybe it's your lotion.
