Has anyone tried this jojoba oil - my friend is just on-line buying it and has read over 300 reviews and everyone says it's like a miracle skin remedy - for acne, ruddy skin and pore refining. Just wondering if anyone here has tried it and what you think?

Lotions that I have used with it seem to be of better quality.

jojoba oil is great for the skin. just don't overload on it or it will clog your pores. it keeps your skin moisturized and tricks your skin to stop producing excess oil (which will lead to breakouts).

I love jojoba. I like shampoo/conditioners with it, and lotions too.

this product that my friend is buying is pure jojoba oil in its natural state and everything she read up on about it was all positive - to clear your skin and to minimize pores without clogging - Well we'll see how it is when it gets here - I'm very curious.

Jojoba is great! I used to use a conditioner (VO5) with jojoba and it was so moisturizing.

The girls on Makeup Alley love this stuff. I've never tried it. I'm too nervous to rub oil onto my face.

its not really a oil its a wax...

Although people see jojoba as oil, it is really a wax ester, and is non-oily or greasy and contains high levels of tocopherols, which have an antioxidant effect on the skin.
Skin absorption studies at the University of Michigan demonstrated that jojoba is quickly absorbed into the skin, which is apparently via the transappendegeal mechanism and occurs through the pores and hair follicles – but because it is so rapidly absorbed, the pores and hair follicles remain open and thus maintain their proper functioning ability.
It is an excellent moisturizes and softens the skin by a dual action – firstly by forming a non-greasy lipid layer, which is partially occlusive (thereby preventing water-loss through the skin) and by the diffusion of jojoba into the intercellular spaces of the stratum corneum to soften this tissue.

I would love to try it as a body moisturizer. I'm VERY content with my facial products at the moment. Do you order it from your supplier, Joseph? Is it expensive?

I hear the same stuff about pure Melaleuca oil. Except it's more used for it's anti bacterial properties, I believe. You can use it on bug bites, massage it in for muscle pain, acne, scars... That's what I heard anyways. The Jojoba oil or wax sounds nice though.

I'm interested in this. I wonder what stores would have something like this, maybe a health food store? I dont really buy organic foods although their "better" for you.

I suffer from dry skin, I wouldnt mind slathering myself with this stuff.

That's what I heard anyways. The Jojoba oil or wax sounds nice though.Pure Melaleuca alternifolia oil / tea tree oil is -- as you said -- a topical antibacterial agent. It works well on acne in concentrations from 5-15% and on nail infections in concentrations of around 40-100%. It can also be used neat/undiluted as a spot treatment for acne. It doesn't really compare to jojoba oil: jojoba oil is used to prevent water loss in the skin / moisturise, as Joseph stated, whereas tea tree oil actually has an astringent and drying effect on the skin [it's not as drying as other antibacterial ingredients such as alcohol or benzoyl peroxide].

You paraphrased it better than me.

I just bought some jojoba myself. I want to try switching to it as my primary body moisturizer. I got mine from www.fromnaturewithlove.co m (http://www.fromnaturewithlove.co m) They sell a lot of body care ingredients and fragrance oils.

Have you got it in yet? If so, how is it? I was wanting to replace my regular moisturizer as well. I'm trying to venture into all-natural products, and this stuff sounds great.

I got my order a couple weeks ago but have been procrastinating. This thread prompted me to use the oil today. I ordered a couple of cobalt dropper bottes as well so I decanted some of the oil into one. I was worried that I'd feel greasy or that it would take a while to absorb but it went on really well. I put it on after my shower this morning and my skin doesn't look or feel dry at all.

I had read that it has a strong scent but I'm not noticing it at all. I think I'm going to use my other bottle to mix in a bit of fragrance oil.

Nice! I'm going to order some next month. I have a lot of lotion I want to use up first. :) Will you let us know how it turns out with the fragrance oil, too?

I have heard good things about JoJoba oil on the skin. However, I have also heard if you're going to use it on your face, don't leave it on for endless hours. It can break some ppl out bigtime & cause clogged pores & full on acne. It is better to do apply it as a mini treatment & leave it on for a couple of hours or so & then wash off & let your skin breathe. I wouldn't leave it on the face overnight. Your skin needs to breathe & it is just too heavy.

I tell you what I swear by.. Buy some Evening Primrose oil pills, Omega Fatty acid pills & a good liquid multivitamin. I take those everyday faithfully & my skin is in great shape. The Evening Primrose oil pills & Omega Fatty acid pills keep the skin plump, smooth, lubriated & strong.

Danie do you ingest the pills or pierce the capsule and apply the oils topically?

Michelle, I swallow all those pills. I take them each day & rarely miss & I swear they are great for the skin. :)
