How do you combat this?

I use the stand ups or the Mystic. Stand up might work a bit better. I get less of this when I do the HP a lot.

I use a lot of bronzer there, and I raise my arms above my head, and lay on my side.

I raise my arms above my head for 1/2 of the session....

I, too, raise my arms for about half the session. This has worked really well for me. Last year, I had really white armpits before I even noticed! hehe

Yeah, I used to have white armpits, and I couldn't understand why. Then I finally figured out that I need to raise my arms!!!! how silly was I?

I'm kinda tall so I take advantage of the whole bed my feet go to the very end and then I raise my arms above my head to reduce the white pit effect, I also get rid of the bed pillow otherwise I tend to get a nice white line under my neck also. The standup beds help dimish those unflattering lines along with the ones that are under your butt.

I use the stand up once in a while

I need to try some of those techniques. I look like an oreo cookie. Brown in the front, brown in the back and white on the sides. =)

I personally can give a $@#$ if my pits don't tan...
if I had tan pits...I think that would look a little 'unatural'

I do not want my pits to be white, so when I go to left my arms on the beach or at the pool everyone goes blind from looking at pale pits. Who cares if it's unnatural. I think it takes away from the overall tan to have white pits.

Mine aren't white, but a little lighter. I sure wish I could get them to even up but they won't.

when i'm on my back, i raise my arms over my head and put them behind me. the lamps underneath me tan the outside of my arm and the lamps above me get the pits and underside of my arms. i think my color is pretty even as a result. i even use moisturizer under my arms sometimes, the night before i tan. could antiperspirant/deodorant be causing the area to not tan as well? if so, maybe a baby wipe before you tan? keep us posted!

I go in the booth about once a week to combat the white armpit syndrome! Plus, it helps to take care of any white sides you might have as well.

yea deodorants and antipersperants do contribute to the white pits that's why i try to use the crystal clear rock one when i tan....

I raise my arms above my head for half a session when I notice my body is starting to get darker than my under arms. Every once in a while I use the stand-ups to get rid of this too.

Hmmm.... I totallyforgot about white under arms for a while. One day in class this girl was talking about her friend's white underarms.. I don't want people talking about how white I was... Yeah... Is it OK to put lotion there??

Mine aren't white, but they are lighter than my arms. It's not that noticable.

stretch your arms above your head, but dont fall asleep that way like I always do, or else you'll get tan armpits and white forearms

I leave with my arms over my head for 1/2 the session.

I guess I've been using booths and different beds and tanning outdoors long enough that I don't have the armpit problem anymore. Certain parts get a bit lighter, but I don't have the glaring white areas that I had WAY back when I first started tanning.

I try to use the stand-ups as much as possible and keep my arms up over my head. LOL.

I don't make an effort to tan my pits but they aren't white.Just lighter than the rest of me.I think it's more natural looking.

being 5'11", i am too tall to do this, and the only booth i can completely extend my arms in was the 2m booth...

I have the white armpits issue too. And even if I stretch my arms over my head, I still get that white patch besides my boobs. Come on girls, anyone else have this problem????

LOL, I don't think there's any real solution to that problem, short of having a breast reduction.

I raise my arms up over my head for 1/2 of my tanning time.

During the summer I don't have any white spots anywhere. I spend a lot of time getting everything tanned. Now that it's cold, well I have the white going on in different places.I really hate that, so I guess I need to spend some time getting tanned all over.

Stand up booths and move around to make sure everything is exposed

I've noticed latley my armpits are SUPER white! I guess its okay since no one will be seeing me with my shirt off until spring. I'll start working on them then!

What about you?
